• Location: Hybrid – Houston, TX (4 days mandatory onsite)
• Pay Rate: $85/hr C2C

• Experience Required: Senior Level (Architectural focus)
• Visa: Open
• Priority: Locals Only (Houston area)

 

Job Summary

We are seeking a Senior GCP Cloud Architect to lead the design and implementation of enterprise-scale cloud solutions for CenterPoint Energy. This role requires a high-level strategic thinker who can also perform senior-level development within the Google Cloud Platform (GCP) ecosystem. You will be responsible for architecting secure, scalable infrastructure, managing containerized applications via GKE, and ensuring seamless data integration and connectivity across hybrid cloud environments. This is an urgent, onsite-heavy requirement for a local Houston expert.

 

Technical Core & Responsibilities

Cloud Architecture & Design

• Enterprise Foundations: Design and deploy production-grade landing zones, VPCs, and shared VPC architectures to support utility-scale operations.
• High Availability: Architect resilient systems utilizing Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE) and Compute Engine across multiple regions and zones.
• Migration Strategy: Lead the assessment and migration of legacy on-premise workloads to cloud-native GCP services.

Automation & Security

• Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Standardize environment provisioning using Terraform or Google Deployment Manager to ensure consistency and speed of delivery.
• IAM & Governance: Implement granular Identity and Access Management (IAM) policies and organization-level constraints to maintain a zero-trust security posture.
• CI/CD Orchestration: Build and optimize deployment pipelines using Google Cloud Build and Artifact Registry.

Data & Connectivity

• Hybrid Connectivity: Oversee secure connections between on-prem data centers and GCP using Cloud Interconnect or VPN tunnels.
• Data Services: Design scalable data storage and processing solutions using BigQuery, Cloud SQL, and Cloud Storage.

 

Mandatory Requirements

1. GCP Expertise: Deep professional experience in Google Cloud Architecture (IAM, GKE, Networking, BigQuery).
2. IaC Proficiency: Strong hands-on background in Terraform for GCP resource management.
3. Local Presence: Must be currently residing in the Houston, TX area and able to work onsite 4 days a week.
4. Security Focus: Experience implementing security best practices and compliance controls in a cloud environment.
5. Seniority: Proven track record as a Lead Developer or Architect in large-scale enterprise environments.
