Job Summary

We are seeking a Lead Node.js Developer with 12–16 years of experience to own the end-to-end delivery of enterprise-level projects onsite in Windsor, CT. This leadership role requires a rare combination of mastery in Node.js (Express/NestJS), React.js, and Java backend systems. You will provide architectural guidance, design scalable API ecosystems, and bridge the gap between frontend, backend, and DevOps teams to deliver high-performance financial service solutions.

Key Responsibilities & Required Skills

Technical Leadership & Architecture

  • Project Ownership: Lead Node.js projects from initial planning through to final deployment, ensuring all deliverables meet Voya’s strategic goals.
  • Architectural Guidance: Define the structural blueprint for Node.js applications, selecting appropriate frameworks such as Express.js or NestJS.
  • Mentorship: Act as a technical lead, mentoring junior and mid-level developers and fostering a culture of coding excellence and security compliance.

Full Stack Engineering & API Design

  • Polyglot Development: Develop and maintain complex server-side logic in Node.js while ensuring seamless integration with Java legacy systems.
  • Modern UI: Collaborate with frontend teams to implement responsive interfaces using React.js.
  • API Strategy: Design and build robust RESTful and GraphQL APIs, integrating multiple third-party services and internal data sources.

DevOps & Integration

  • CI/CD Coordination: Work closely with DevOps teams to build and maintain automated deployment pipelines.
  • Security & Standards: Enforce strict adherence to secure coding practices and organizational standards to protect sensitive financial data.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Product and DevOps teams to remove blockers and ensure end-to-end solution delivery.

Mandatory Technical Skills

  1. Node.js: Expert-level development using Express or NestJS.
  2. React.js: Strong proficiency in modern frontend architecture.
  3. Java: Advanced backend engineering and integration experience.
