Role Overview
We are looking for a Mainframe Support Specialist to provide L2/L3 technical support for IBM z/OS applications. This role is focused on the stability and performance of batch operations and DB2 environments within a large-scale retail supply chain. You will be responsible for resolving JCL abends, managing DB2 utilities, and ensuring smooth code deployments. This is an onsite position requiring daily presence at the San Bernardino facility to support critical production cycles.
Technical Core & Responsibilities
Production & Batch Support
- Incident Resolution: Analyze and resolve JCL abends, code defects, and data issues in a high-pressure production environment.
- Batch Operations: Copy and parameterize JCL across environments and monitor batch cycles using CA-7 or ESP.
- Deployment: Manage dataset setup, code promotions, and environment prerequisites for system upgrades.
DB2 & Middleware
- DB2 Support: Perform creation and maintenance of DB2 objects, including plan/package binding and rebindings.
- Utilities: Execute DB2 utilities such as LOAD, UNLOAD, RUNSTATS, and REORG to manage large datasets.
- CICS & MQ: Navigate CICS screens for troubleshooting and monitor MQ message flows for integration points.
Automation
- REXX Scripting: Utilize and enhance REXX scripts to automate repetitive support tasks and batch movements.
