In PLR 200404050, the IRS concluded that "market value equalizer payments" (which are essentially payments to a plan by an insurer to make up for a surrender fee paid to a prior insurer) were not considered plan contributions for purposes of Sections 404, 401(k), 4979, etc....

The new insurer recovers the amount it advanced to the plan through amortization charges over a few years. It would also recover the amounts through a discontinuance fee if the plan moves out of the investment within that same period.

If the participants direct investments and the fund is an option, is does the disclosure warn that new money is helping to pay for a prior charge to the fund by suffering its share the amortization charges? If it is a wasting fund, how does the fund account for some people getting out earlier than others and not bearing their share of the amortization? How does the fiduciary justify the arrangement if there is any mismatch (time or amount) between the orginal investors (who got the benefit of postponement of the value adjustment hit) and those who bear the cost of amortization?

When we were presented with this option recently, we nixed it. It is problematic all around, even it it can pass technical muster. I would love to see a decent comprehensive analysis that concludes that the arrangement is appropriate.

I'm familiar with the arrangement and think you have an interesting viewpoint. If the insurance company is depositing money (more than it received from the prior investment company), and it's not a contribution, then what is it? It certainly is effectively a loan, whether it quite makes it to the point of being a direct or indirect loan and therefore a PT I'm not sure.

But after I saw the first one of these many years ago, I couldn't help but be amused at how they are sold as doing the participants a big favor by eating the surrender charge. Yeah, right, they just pay for it over time (and then some, maybe) instead of all at once.

I have used the app before on many other phones without issue, however I am not able to get it working on my current device. I am using a Lenovo ZUK Z2 Plus with LineageOS 18.1 custom ROM based on Android 11.

I have installed the app and enabled the advanced player tracking switch, with both DUMP permission and notification listener permission granted. All of my audio player apps (Spotify, YouTube, etc) appear in the "Known Players" section with the switches enabled. When I play audio from these apps it shows "Time last seen: 0 minutes ago"

Despite this, there is no sound processed by Poweramp EQ. The name of the current player does not appear above the bass/treble knobs on the homescreen and there is no sound visualisation even though Poweramp EQ has permissions for full microphone access.

Can anyone figure out what could be causing this issue? I have attached some screenshots that I hope will be of assistance. The stock AudioFX equaliser that comes with Lineage has been switched off and disabled via ADB.

I have attached another screenshot below showing some other apps I have tried. None of these apps are being processed by Poweramp EQ despite appearing in the "Known Players" list. I am able to use Poweramp with all of these apps on my other devices.

I have tried re-enabling the built-in AudioFX equaliser that comes with LineageOS. This equaliser works fine with all apps. However, Poweramp does not work no matter if AudioFX is enabled/disabled via ADB or simply switched on or off inside the app.

I have observed when I start playing audio from any app, for example Spotify, the Poweramp EQ icon appears in the statusbar for a few seconds before disappearing. It shows in the Known Players menu as "Last seen: 0 minutes ago" but then the timer will start counting upwards eg. "Last seen: 5 minutes ago" despite the music still playing with no interruptions.

@P650SE never received anything from you with the log to gpma...@gmail.com. Anyway if it's not working with Spotify (not lite, the original app), then system is missing some component related to the audio processing/equalizer.

I'm trying to display a form in a "Show" View and am wanting to use Foundation's equalizer to make the divs the same height but for some reason it doesn't work with one div being taller than the other.

Equalizer will have no effect if the items are stacking (if the offset().top value of all of them is not equal) and you have set equalize_on_stack: false. Try adding this configuration to your main js file:

My first thought, is that Equalizer is working and it is making both s the same height. Unless you have some visual clue to differentiate them such as different background colors or a border setting it may be hard to tell if Equalizer is working properly. Please note that I have made this mistake before.

If your intention was to make the s the same height, you would need to move the data-equalizer-watch from the s to the s. This would also allow you to visually see if Equalizer is working, because of 's border.

I created this codepen, , with two examples. One is your code above where I added a dashed border to both of your s. The other example is your code above where I moved the data-equalizer-watch to the s.

Not sure if this applies to you, but when you are using foundation's equalizer you must ensure the following for each ancestor of elements with "data-equalizer-width" that are also children of the element with the "data-equalizer" attribute:

Also, you must ensure the controls being "equalized" are visible when the equalizing code is called. So, if you are using equalizer in a tab that is hidden on page load, you need to trigger equalizer again when that part becomes visible. You can do this by triggering a resize event on the window object.

I would like to add to this. I would also like to see a 5-7 band equalizer. I noticed my hearing in my left ear has become problematic. Went to an audiologist and found my left ear has a significant drop at 4k Hz. To compensate for this, it was suggested boosting the 4k frequency up. So, besides allowing people to adjust the sound to their own taste, it would allow people like me to compensate for some hearing impairment issues. I also found myself needing closed captioning when watching TV, even with the Sonos Arc (my problem also makes it harder on picking up various words and sounds).

And I am not in favor of all possible expansions of the equalizer with a lot of adjustment options of frequency bands and equalizer presets, I have seen / heard it on other products and it has never done anything good for the sound.

Sonos never gives updates on what they are working on. However, I would not expect a full band equalizer. Sonos leans heavily towards Trueplay automatic equalization, which is the opposite of a manual full band equalizer.

In my experience the only way to manually configure a multi-band PEQ/GEQ acceptably is if someone or something has done a response sweep first and auto-generated the corrective adjustments. A good example is the AutoEq project for headphones based on Oratory1990 et al.

With rhythmbox back in 12.04 will ubuntu give it some attention to give it some usability one thing that was majorly missing on my last use of rhythmbox was an equalizer which is the most basic of requirements for an audio player let alone a preamp.

I searched google and there are many guides from 2009 trying to install the equalizer. there is nothing recent and one would assume this would be a default plugin, there is no point after all searching for cover art if your music doesn't sound right.

Rhythmbox is not a canonical product so I don't think canonical can do anything about it. If you need a feature may be you can request feature to rhythmbox developers. If you are talking about third party plugin called 10 Band Equalizer.

I have a custom equalizer preset created in Apple Music on macOS 14.4.1. I noticed today that if I am playing a song and then skip to another song (sometimes it takes a few skips), it will sound as though my equalizer is turned off -- everything begins to sound very flat.

If I go to Equalizer, it shows that it is checked (on) and that my custom EQ preset is selected. If I try switching to a different EQ preset, or change anything, it does absolutely nothing to the sound. If I turn it off, no change. If I exit Apple Music and open it again, it starts working as expected.
