I had a ton of fun at NextFab cranking out 3 more 3D printers this weekend.
I am so ready to do it again.
There was some discussion about what needs to happen next. Main points I remember:
  • 10 spots @ $1200 will provide full travel expenses for instructors around the US.
  • We need to find willing hosts. We may have a few leads.
  • We should have the whole toolchain and dependencies on a flash drive in case of hurricanes.
  • PLA bushings on Z axis need to be a bit looser.
My research since:
  • Eventbrite can cover ticketing and will charge a max $10 for the privilege plus paypal fees: $35.10
  • Eventbrite will let us take check or at the door payments. Bitcoins at the door!
  • People frickin' love 3D printers. We can sell out 10 next time.
I think we should all reach out and find more hosts. Once they are interested, we can pick a date +2months and start marketing.

Sound like fun?

Can we use these connections? I'll call them or you can.

I'll know more about CO once I setup base camp in the coming weeks. I'll follow-up with Houston as well.

cool! i'm gonna follow up with nextfab once we get all finances from the class squared away. i think there is a good market here in Philly for these, we just need to work on the marketing angle a bit more.

I would love to host one at my school.
What are the space requirements?
Is it run by a nonprofit organization?
Is there a concise description of the workshop that I could use to pitch it upstream?
Thanks
