Hey everybody. My collecting of parts is coming along swimmingly. I'm
eagerly looking forward to my printed parts and hardware from Mark,
aka fireraisr, and I have also got some electronics on the way.

I wanted to see what thoughts anybody had on hot ends. I was looking
at Wildseyed's simple hotend, http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:7814
but I wanted to hear some opinions and what had been working for
people.

I look forward to hearing from everybody.

Hey Ben,

You know what my recommendation is going to be. If you want to try one (Wildseyed) out, I can put one together for you.

Wildseyed, how much does one of your hot ends cost to build?

I don't really know...

The brass couplings are just a few bucks, and the MIG tips as well.  Aluminum billet is sold by the pound at any metal supply.  The resistors are about $5.00.  Thermistor too.The PTFE rod is sold by the foot at plastic supply houses.

I don't sell kits, but if you want me to make you one, I suppose I would be asking about $40.00+shipping.

Have you tried sourcing the parts?  I've actually managed to simplify the design even more.  I'll be updating the wiki and Thigiverse soon.

Best,

I'd be willing to take you up on that offer. I just tried to fix my leaking hot end and the barrel snapped off at the brass. Could you have it ready by this Saturday?

I might have one left by Saturday, but only just.  I have to be at the electronics swap meet at Chino Hills High School.  This has been the week for hot ends.

I might have to get a hot end from you too soon. I've been neck deep in my senior project and haven't had much time to play with my Prusa. I'm very jealous of everyone right now haha.
