I have assembled the thing. I’ve wired it together. I’ve got two motors that I can get to run some of the time. I don’t get consistent results from switching motors around between inputs. And I just don’t have the skill to know what to look for.

I can come to the space on Saturday, or maybe meet someone elsewhere or elsewhen.

But until I can find a kind soul to take a look at this thing, I’m stuck.

Guyren,
I'd be happy to help you out. Unfortunately I won't have time until
the saturday after this coming one.

Hey Guyren,

Did you get your reprap problems worked out?

Still working on it.

Marks was good enough to suggest some things I might look at.

Well, if you want some help, let me know.  It seems like you've been at it for a while.

It's a bit of a drive to Orange County, but feel free to stop by or call.  I've lost count of how many RepRaps I've gotten going for folks.

Some useful things to know:
What model of machine are you building? Mendel, Prusa, Huxley, Techzone?
What type of electronics are you using?  RAMPS, Gen3, TeaCup, Gen6?
What firmware are you trying to run?
What Software are you trying to use to control the machine?  Also, on what operating system?
Any specific problem you are having?

Mark gave me some things to try on the weekend. If that doesn’t help, I’ll get back to you.

Thanks.

I've been trying to get this thing working now for the best part of a
year. Fact is that I just don't have enough equipment or knowledge to
fix this thing. What I can say is that in repsnapper, I can get steps
in one direction only on two of my motors. Much of the time, but
sometimes none of them work.

I've tried re-wiring the thing. I'm fairly confident that all the
wiring is right.

The pots on the Pololus turn without limit. I don't know if that's
wrong. Perhaps I just need to replace all of them. But I don't know,
as I don't know how to test them.

I just tried swapping the wires from one of the motors that I can get
to step with one that I can't. The results are that neither of them
steps. I don't know what to make of that.

I would love to get this thing working. I would love to have my kids
design and make their own toys. I can likely contribute to the
software. I would really love to have this thing working, but I just
don't have the knowledge to do it myself.

Can anyone help?

Guyren,
I'm willing to help. It seems that Saturdays at the hackerspace are
difficult because that's the "public" day and there are many
distractions. Would you be able to come out any other day of the week?
I've shelved my printer for the time being so we can use my components
for testing purposes. I have a full electronics set so we could do
some extensive testing.
I get off work weekdays at 2pm so I can be down pretty much whenever
you'd be available.

Hi, Mark.

I’ve got a lot on at work at the moment. But maybe later in the week, or next week.

Most grateful for the offer. I’ll be in touch.

Guryen,

I would also be willing to help.

I'm another rapraper from Los Angeles. John Ecker helped get me
started on a mendel prusa (he is down in SD). I was able to research /
trouble shoot the electronics and wiring myself I know it can be
frustrating esp. if you don't have lots of time.

I live in Echo Park. I know with my RAMPS boards it seems like the
motors won't run constantly unless the end stops are plugged in the
right spots. This may vary depending on what firmware you are using
and some of your issues might be firmware related. I have an extra
ramps 1.2 board which i know works that you could try and some extra
poulolo's as well for trouble shooting. Also, I never really trusted
repsnapper much, I'm much more confident using pronterface / sprinter
(for now).

Thanks for the offer. I begin to think I might get this working with all these kind folk to help me.

Where is Echo Park? LA?
