that is pretty cool and I wish you luck but it started me thinking of how something like this could included people with 3D printers and might even spark the press's interest. It would leverage all hacker spaces and all owners of 3D printers so it would be presented as something almost anyone can do/help with. How about this:

Your 2 meter artwork digitally chopped up into smaller pieces which can be printed by anyone with a 3D printer where the parts are sent in and it's assembled at one location. Maybe 2 parts are made by each machine and 2 huge pieces are assembled in 2 different locations?

I can see something using desktop machines, machines within reach of almost everyone, opening up the world to the idea as opposed to one massive machine almost nobody can afford or has room for doing a big group funded print.

another idea when/if the Tantillus machine gets chaining capabilities with modes for internet connectivity, the words largest 3D printed artwork could be printed by the most simultaneously run print jobs. Normal people with obtainable machines joining to do something big.

The best of luck with the big 3D print.

Hey! I wanted to tell everyone about a new project I am involved in, we
wanted to help print the largest North American 3d print, and we are going
to help by printing leafychains, a biodegradable PLA key-chain accessory
that you can purchase at the USD $20 donation level.

    Link: www.indiegogo.com/crowdfundtherygo

We need your help! Do you know of anyone that can help write a blog on our
campaign, or do you know of someone who is interested in working with large
scale 3d printed technology? Are you a designer and you are looking for a
    way to rapid-prototype a large-scale object?

For many people we believe this will be their first time interacting with a
3d printed object, and the concept of being able to show this to your
friends from your keychain, is one that we believe is an effective and
powerful tool for the exposure of personal desktop manufacturing technology.

The Rygo is an interactive 3d printed design created by Bathesba Grossman
(of iMaterialise fame), it will be printed on the D-shape (the world's
largest 3d printer!), and you can control the lighting in real-time using
an iphone app or through the computer. It is one of the coolest projects I
have ever been a part of, and I want to help get the word out to
hackerspaces and tech groups, because I believe that by wearing our
Buildatron "leafychain" keychain prints, you can help promote 3d printer
technology and generate interest among your friends, your family, and your
colleagues, who might not yet know of this amazing technology.

We need your help, hackerspaces that can get out the word, and this amazing
opportunity to be a part of a unique 3d printed crowd-funding campaign and
I urge everyone to Donate and purchase the one of-a-kind 3d printed
leafychains to wear on your keychain, help become an ambassador for 3d
    printing technology!

Order your >.80 Micron Green PLA Leafychain keychain and help donate to the
    Rygo Sculpture!
