Hey guys,

I have been working on a cheep, i mean very cheep($40 so far) xy
board. Its not using a stepper motor so its not going to be 100%
accurate but i figure i can start with this and maybe learn a thing or
2. It basically uses a running board in the middle which moves along 2
pieces of dowel for stability and direction. I only have one axis
powered but will hopefully do the other in the next cpl of days. If i
can get it accurate by testing with a pen i will place another board
on top of the mechanics which will form the base board to extrude on,
and use a frame to mount a movable z axis extruder or grinder head.

Check out the small vid and pics,

Hey guys,

I have added my y axis but as you can see from the vid below the motor
is a lot slower but I think also will be more accurate, so tomorrow I
will make sure I have 2 of the slower motors in. Then i will add a top
platform and I pretty much have an xy base for around $70 bucks.
Could be fair bit cheaper now I know what’s involved etc.

Not glamorous but functional

Next ill look at computer control etc.
