I've contacted a few other local manufacturers and received no response.
It seems like vik is the best place to get filament for us Australians!
Auzze got a heap in recently, not sure how much he has left to sell.

I just bought some PLA of Vik but I found that for 1.75mm Ultimachine
is much better value even with shipping taken into account. It's not
obvious because one ships by length and the other by mass. To put it
into perspective though 100m of 1.75mm from Vik is about 300grams.
I think his 3mm filament probably works out to be much better value. I
shopped around all the PLA I could find and Ultimachine offered the
best price with shipping included. Obviously getting 5lbs at once
takes the edge off the shipping the best.
I have some white coming that I ordered last week so I will report
back on shipping time. I think Vik's still took a week to get to me
despite being so close - they must row it over.

1.75 filament at least) Ultimachine worked out to be the cheapest I
could find for PLA for total cost including shipping. I think Vik's
3mm PLA is a better value proposition though.

I want to place an order with Vik. Best value is 11 rolls, but I
can't use all that myself.
The cost works out to be around $30 / roll (+ shipping if you aren't
picking it up from me) with a guesstimate for currency exchange fees.
So far I have 4 rolls accounted for. Vik only sells by the roll, but
we could split them ourselves so we each get more colours.
The current order is as follows:
1x Honda Red
1x Yellow
1x Sky Blue
1x Clear Amber (if available)
I'd like to have half a roll of each of the following:
1x Kawasaki Lime*
1x Purple*
1x Black*
1x White*
I'm looking for someone to take the other half of the above rolls.
That leaves 3 colours undecided.
If you are interested please email me or reply to this thread. I'm
going to order early next week.

sure!
be aware that it's best to store the filament in such a way that it
can't absorb moisture from the air, i.e. a sealed container with
dessicants in it like rice or silica gel.
If the filament absorbs too much moisture, the steam that escapes
during printing will sputter bubbles all over your print and ruin the
quality.
It can take a month or five (depending on weather) for it to get to
that point, so no need to implement special handling procedures, and
it can be dried in a conventional oven if you keep the temperature
below Tg (about 60c for PLA) or possibly even a microwave if you can
get the reel to fit!
I'm more inclined to talk about getting a reseller set up here, so we
don't need to drop $300 plus international shipping every time we want
a reel. Sure there will be some overhead, but I'd rather pay a bit of
overhead and get 2 rolls than have to organise a group buy every time!
I don't think I have the organisational skills to be that guy all by
myself, but I'd like to be involved.

I will stand by my original request for 4 rolls, but if you get
"oversubscribed" by others wanting to join into your "group buy", I
wouldn't mind splitting my 4 rolls and taking a smaller total
quantity, if it helps everyone get what they want / need.

Currently no Black or White filament - expecting stock late next
week.
Silver is available
Here is the order so far
Me - 5 rolls (with 1 roll of luminous :-) )
Julian - 4 rolls
Joel - 2 rolls (silver)
Luke - 2 rolls
Total - 13 rolls
If black / white were available I would increase my order to buy 1 of
each, and Joel would get 2 rolls of black as well, so the new total
would be 17.
The price will be around $28/roll. I've added $2/roll for faster
shipping - apparently Vik's orders are getting stuck in NZ customs.
There are still more slots left for orders.
* Question: Who wants to wait an extra week to get black / white?

unlikely but possible.
Perhaps Steve Dalton of gctechspace et al would like to jump in on
this order, and I'll take a roll as part of my payment when I deliver
a set of parts to him? IIRC he was interested in getting some filament
to lend motivation to the reprap build effort :)
