I'm very pleased I found this, as I've been searching for a while for
something that should do exactly what your product does.

The one thing I'm wondering though, is there a build out there that I
can use to just drop it into a current webserver? I'm running xampp
on my server here at home, and just want to install Repos Server
inside that without it's own Apache, etc. I just need the htdocs for
it. I'm currently using VisualSVN as the actual SVN server.

Please let me know.

Thanks!

I'm not sure what the easiest way to do this would be. You could
always check the source at
https://labs.repos.se/data/server/trunk/setup/ but the components are
a bit scattered in there and collected by Inno Setup when building the
installer. If you don't mind running the installer you could set up
Repos Server with some odd ports so it does not collide with your
current servers, then copy the contents of the html and tools folders,
then run the uninstaller.

What parts are you interested in? Most of them are separate
components, like reposstyle.com and webuseradmin.com.

Thanks for the reply Staffan.

I'm most interested in the web-admin/viewing of the repos. I've already
got my SVN repo setup using VisualSVN.

Really, though, this package would work awesome if I could just drop
it/install it into an existing apache setup. I can use everything but
Apache/MySQL/etc. I could use the Web-Admin, the web-viewing, the SVN, etc.

I hope that was clear(er than mud) lol.

Thanks again,

Sounds like a new installer configuration and a separate download, but
I'm not convinced that it would be useful to others. It is like adding
ReposStyle and Webuseradmin to an existing apache+svn on any OS: Maybe
a simple script to bundle the components for into a zip could provide
that in a platform independent manner, but I think unpacking the
projects separately would be a quite similar intallation effort. You'd
still need to add the configuration entries to apache and configure
the log script manually, and the instructions would be found on
separate home pages :)

May I make a more simple clarification/suggestion?

The /alternate/ installer I'd like to see/use, is one that doesn't
include apache/mysql/etc (that would normally be on a webserver), so it
can be dropped into an existing install. I'm not worried about setting
up a new SVN repo, or migrating a current one, I'd just like to be able
to use all the tools that come with RepoServer without worrying about
conflicting Apache setups.

I hope it makes more sense.

The new installer will not be able to recognize your current
configuration unless it is targeted towards specific packages like
xampp, so the benefit is small. It will just be a bundle of compolents
which you have to install yourself. I still like the idea of a bundle
with a lightweight subversion web gui and administration, especially
if it is platform independent. However it won't be as simple to set up
as an installer.

I'm not too concerned with an installer doing all the work for me.
Maybe make an interactive installer where we can input the paths
required for apache, etc, so it can handle the config?

Or even a how-to (configure) with the installer?

Sounds reasonable. I'll look into it for next release. I was planning
to build a new Repos Server version when PHP 5.3.1 has been released.
Thanks for the feedback.

Thank you for even considering it! There are so many developers out
there who couldn't care less.

I'll be more than glad to help in any way I can (which probably wouldn't
be much), but the offer is there.

Thanks again for listening!
