I have a fully working Reposado server installed on Windows Server 2008 R2.
I could reinstall/migrate the server to CentOS, but before going to a fair bit of effort with this, I wondered if it was possible to run Margarita on a Windows install of Reposado?
I know it's "theoretically" possible (as Windows can run flask) but I'm interested to know if anyone here is actually doing this with success?
There are articles on the interwebs about getting this working on Linux, but I can't find any talking about getting Margarita working with Reposado on Windows Server.

Many thanks in advance for any comments/tips/warnings etc.

It's probably worth adding that this is running on IIS and not apache..  :(
Maybe the reinstall/migrate option is best! ;)

I've not heard of anybody running it on IIS. You should take the plunge and do a write-up for the community if you get it working. :)

That said: this is the reposado mailing list and topics should stay reposado-oriented. Feel free to mail me or submit an issue on the Margarita project page if there's any problems/issues/questions, etc.

Thanks,

I run Margarita (and Reposado) on Win 2012 R2. I only access Margarita locally (ie 127.0.0.1). I simply cloned from git and created the symlinks. I start it manually at the moment.

It just worked.

I likewise would be interested in doing this, although I'm fortunate enough to have a non-Windows infrastructure for Reposado right now, I'm looking into leveraging Margarita to reduce the mental burden for non-command-line-oriented admins in my environment. And I never know when I may be forced to use Windows/IIS, as that's how we currently actually distribute our OS X updates today.

This is our model:
reposado master - pulls down ALL Apple updates and hosts our distribution branch.
reposado distro - pulls down the subset of updates from distribution branch and re-sync to IIS servers
IIS servers - host reposadories for clients to retrieve local updates

When I was first playing around with this infrastructure I did get reposado working on Windows to see if it could be done that way if it needed to be. You'll spend a lot more time trying to get the IIS configs right than anything else, with Margarita too.

@ marcus and ddbtest -- I'd be interested in learning how you got Reposado and Margarita working on Server 2008 and 2012. We've been using NetSUS, but looking for something that's kept more up to date. If your interested in lending a hand, it would be greatly appreciated.

I found it quite easy to get Reposado working on IIS we started with a Single 2012R2 host with local storage and now use 2x 2012R2 with IIS in a load balanced configuration utilising shared storage. Just make sure you set the MIME types. I run a Repo_Sync every night all on windows.

I am currently playing with Margarita and IIS
