to repocamp
You are right that we are not really following the barcamp rules, but
rather are following Open Space Technology ideologies or Unconference
rules (like the "rule of two feet"). The Barcamp wiki for us was just
a free open space that links high on Google, so apologies for the
association with barcamp, but RepoCamp is really its own
manifestation, based on the new philosophy of things like 'wisdom of
crowds', unconferences, OST and barcamps.
That said, I am very keen to keep the spirit of barcamp being an event
driven by participants. And the structure of the event is intended to
provide space where people can pursue their own agenda in a barcamp
fashion (hopefully the prizes add some motivation to this). Ideally
after the morning elevator pitches the space is given over to Open
Space Technology, so personal agendas can be pursued. The afternoon
elevator pitches will be left open for participants to decide so the
participants can bring forward their own ideas as they encounter them
as a community of people.
