Using repo on Windows

Greetings!
As luck would have it, I am tied to a windows box for the next 2-3
months, but still keen to play around with Android sources. I have a
git client installed and installed Python 2.6 for windows.
Running the 'repo' script shows errors about a 'import
readline' (which is also discussed in another thread).
Does anyone knows if Android sources could be checked out on Windows?
The instructions on the website make not reference to checking out and
building on Windows.

We don't support any sorts of builds on Windows at this point for either building Android or using the repo/gerrit tools.
Sorry! If you're happy with VmWare, that's probably your best bet.
