I've done a repo start, made a change, git commit, repo upload, and
the change was rejected. How do I get my repo back to a clean state
(i.e. as if none of that had existed)?

I'm getting this:

$ repo prune
Pending Branches

project external/oprofile/
fixbuild ( 1 commit , Tue Oct 28 17:28:04 2008 -0700)
* fixbuild2 ( 1 commit , Tue Oct 28 17:28:04 2008 -0700)

Thanks,
JBQ

Start a new branch.  Or use "git checkout m/master", where the m/master bit is the branch name associated with the manifest you are using.

We could do a "repo unstart" but that just feels wrong to me.  I wonder if there isn't a more general command structure that makes sense here.

I think "repo abandon <branch>" for what jbq wants might be appropriate.  It matches with the checkbox on gerrit (once I push a new version).

This will be in the next version of repo.
