Hi,

I would like to understand what happens to /refs/changes/ namespace for change-Id which are merged or abandoned. Are they permanently stored in git after merge? or they backed-up into other storage (say MySQL based on set-up).

Couldn't find any documentation around it, would be helpful to get some insights on what happens after merge in general?

Thanks

The refs/changes stay forever in Gerrit, they are not removed, moved or "archived". Additionally, users can still comment on the merged and abandoned changes, so we can't just get rid of them.

Sometimes, the abandoned are restored and merged later on. With the merged changes, we sometimes comment pinpointing potential bugs that were introduced by them.

New or abandoned  changes *can be removed*, if you wish to do so. See the REST-API at [1].

Got it. Somewhat related question to Gerrit,

If one were to use Gerrit with Github, merging a commit into Github trunk will work for gerrit to close the open code-reviews against that commit as long as the sha doesn't change. I would assume it would as it would be mirroring from Github.

Any thoughts on this? or if anyone is doing something like this?
