Hello,

I was just wondering if it would be possible at all to install Gerrit
on a QNAP NAS.
Are there certain hardware requirements for installing Gerrit?
What are the software requirements?

The things that I think are needed to run Gerrit that are available on
the NAS are:
- Apache
- MySQL

I also saw that there are QPKG packages of the following available for
the NAS:
- Tomcat
- JRE

Hopefully there is someone that could guide me in the right
direction.

Mind you I have basic linux skills.

Thanks

The only thing you should need is a suitable JRE and disk access - Gerrit can self host its webinterface and use an internal java based DB - though it would depend what you are doing about security.

Give it a try and see what happens!

Have a look at http://gerrit.googlecode.com/svn/documentation/2.1.6/config-gerrit.html#auth

There are various different ways you can configure security in Gerrit, if you use LDAP or OpenId then Gerrit will just work, if you want to use HTTP style authentication then you need to be running in a web server or servlet container such as tomcat/apache in which case obviously you need tomcat or apache.

If you are just doing it as an experiment for youself you could even go for DEVELOPMENT_BECOME_ANY_ACCOUNT and not have any real security – it depends on what you want.

Can you explain what you mean about what I'm doing about security?
I probably gonna need it to be secure.
