Hi,

I've got a stupid question: Where do I change the line length for diff views from the default of 100?

Regards, Martin.

When viewing a file, click the Preferences tab in the menus under
Difference. Change the Columns field and click Update or Save.

Thanks a lot. Once you know that there is another set of preferences, it's quite easy :) .

Wait, what? I can change that? That's just what I was wishing for. But I can't find the "Preferences tab" or anything named "Difference". Can you tell me where to find that?

If you are viewing the diff for a file, then a new top menu called 'Differences' appears in the menu bar. This meanu has a 'Preferences' sub menu where you can change the diff preferences.

I still can't find any "Differences" menu item. I've attached a screen shot of the top half of my Chrome browser window so you can see what I see. I believe I'm running version 2.8 of gerrit in case that makes a difference.

That is the new change screen, which is experimental and known to be
incomplete in 2.8. The line length feature you asking for does not
exist in that UI.

To follow up on Shawn's comment, 2.9 should have more of the preferences implemented, but for 2.8, I believe you can still go into the "old" change screen, change your preferences, then change back -- if you changed preferences that are honored on the new screen, they will be reflected at that time.

Yep, I got it working. I changed my global preferences to use "Unified diff". Then I viewed a file and could see the "Differences" menu. Then I set the line length. Then I reset my global preferences back to "side-by-side". It's all good now. I'm happy. Thanks everyone for your help.
