Hi all,

repo v2.55 has been released: https://gerrit.googlesource.com/git-repo/+/refs/tags/v2.55.2 . I plan to promote it to stable on June 11, 2025.

Is it possible to add an environment variable like REPO_URL to enable/disable Git LFS by default? We recently enabled LFS support, but some users often forget to enable it with 'repo init --git-lfs'. Also, many existing scripts do not include this flag. Using an environment variable might be a more convenient way to handle this. If you think this is a good idea, I can also contribute a patch.

I also had this idea and have put a patch up for review:

It passed the built-in checks, but I'm not sure how to keep in moving through the review process.
