While accessing Gerrit using IE6, I get an unknown file type back.
Never seen it before because I use FireFox, but many of my users are
on IE6. Is there something that needs to be setup on either Gerrit or
IE to have it work?

IE doesn't work.  http://jira.source.android.com/jira/browse/GERRIT-62

I don't have a Windows system, so I can't debug/test it myself.  Most Google engineers run Linux, and thus Firefox.  So our priority isn't exactly on IE...

Today I broke down and installed Windows XP on a spare desktop system I managed to obtain.  No, I wasn't happy about seeing that round start icon again.  Seeing it just gives me chills.

Anyway.

I debugged Gerrit far enough that it mostly runs on IE 6.

These preliminary fixes will be in Gerrit 2.0.5.
The fixes are now live at https://review.source.android.com/

I've identified the following additional problems:

- Newlines aren't being honored correctly, e.g. see the message in https://review.source.android.com/8990.
- Back button is partially broken.  Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.
- The patch side-by-side view looks like something the cat dragged in.

There may be more.  I've only briefly looked at it.  Testing by those who care about IE would be much appreciated.

I opened http://jira.source.android.com/jira/browse/GERRIT-84 to track all known IE issues as dependent items.  The above three items I found last night are GERRIT-{85,86,87}.

I may or may not come back and try to fix some of these open items.  Most likely not.  If I get really bored and something looks easy I might try to fix it.  But don't hold your breath waiting.

Folks who care about IE support should try to work through these issues and submit patches.  Please at least open any other issues and link them to GERRIT-84 as you find them.
