Hello,

I migrate gerrit from 2.16.12 to 3.0.3 some time ago
when i want to edit access config in gerrit. such as add user to owner, if the user's name have character "." , the lower left corner will display "No changes to save." and with no other action if the name have no character ".", it's ok.

We are also seeing this issue in all of our Gerrit 3 evaluation environments (3.0.2 currently).

We can add and authenticate ldap users, but when it comes to ldap Distribution Lists (DLs), the name will autocomplete and the UI will appear to add the entry, but when you try to click "Save" or "Save for Review", a message pops up saying "No changes to save" and nothing further can be done.

This is blocking us from upgrading from 2.15.6 and may block us from using Gerrit at all in the future if we cannot use DLs as groups in Gerrit. Has no one else seen this? Is there some ldap configuration option we are missing? I don't see any error messages in the log that might point in a right direction.

Any advice appreciated.

Update: confirmed as a workaround that we ARE able to add ldap DLs to Gerrit Groups and we can add Gerrit groups to Access rules in PolyGerrit just fine. HOWEVER, we still cannot add ldap DLs to permissions directly using the UI (or if we do we cannot save the changes). If we add a mix of users AND DLs with the same change, then the change is saved for the users that were added, but the ldap DL entries are NOT saved.

This is still not satisfactory.

Furthermore, where our existing repos already have ldap DLs in the Access rules, they still appear in the Access UI correctly and continue to function normally, we just cannot add new entries that are ldap DLs. It is more correct to say that we can add them through the UI, but then are unable to save afterwards if we do so.

Can someone please help?

If this is normal and ldap groups can no longer be added in the UI (and the Gerrit group workaround is now mandatory) then I need to advise my group (it may affect decision to adopt Gerrit 3, but they need to know). If, however, there is a configuration Option (or other method) to resolve this it would be entirely preferable..

Someone please let us know.

Regards,
Robert.
