Hello.
The following is happening.
I open a database, let's say it's called Study 1, and make changes to it.
I save it as a different database, Study 2, using File - Save As
However, I then find that the original database, Study 1, has also been overwritten so it is the same as Study 2.
Has this always been the case?
I'm a long term user (altho' not so much recently) and have never noticed this before.
It seems a bit dangerous.

Thanks,

Hi,

Which operating system are you using? I just tried on Windows and that doesn't happen. I "Saved As" another database and the new database is opened, so any changes only affect the new database.

Sorry for the delay in my reply. I've been distracted by other stuff.
I'm using Windows 7.
I just tried it again (file - save as...) and, on my system at least, it definitely overwrites the original as well as creating the new name .srs file.
I tested it with a couple of different .srs files and the same thing happened.
So I uninstalled the software and then downloaded and reinstalled it but the same thing still happens.
I'm a long term user of this software and I would certainly have noticed this before if it was happening before, so I think there must be something odd about my set-up.
But what on earth could it be?
If you have any ideas please let me know and I will check them out.

Best regards.

One other thing I can mention which seems a bit odd is that even though I deleted all cards in the database except one (in doing this test) I notice that the size of the .srs file does not change.
Before I do the test there are around 120 cards and the file size is 111kb
After I have deleted all but 1 card and saved it as a new .srs file it is still 111kb.
