Japanese Lacquer in the Collection of Dr. Elizabeth Force is a comprehensive documentation of the lacquerware that Dr. Force has collected through 2017, ranging from literary boxes to incense utensils, from household items to objets de vitrine. They attest to the refined skills of lacquer artisans in Japan's late Edo and early Meiji periods. Monika Bincsik, Assistant Curator in the Department of Asian Art at the Metropolitan Museum of Art and a specialist in Japanese decorative arts, catalogued the collection and wrote the illuminating essays in this beautiful and comprehensive publication, which also includes an introduction by SCMA Director and Louise Ines Doyle '34 Chief Curator, Jessica Nicoll. The catalog was published in association with an exhibition at SCMA organized by Jane Chace Carroll Curator of Asian Art, Yao Wu.

There are also times when we are intentionally copying other products to create new and original works. Not only when creating parodies but when works resonate with us so much we feel the need to write them love letters in the form of original works inspired by those properties.
Sometimes like in the case of Promare, these works that take inspiration from others turn into original works capable of standing on their own. Other times they are disappointments because they skew too close to their original inspiration. I am Setsuna by Tokyo RPG Factory was one such work that skewed too close to its inspiration that I grew frustrated with it rather than enjoying the work on its own.
I am Setsuna (Setsuna) copies many elements from its predecessor Final Fantasy X (FFX). Both feature a sacrificial maiden, one of many who went on a cyclical journey to temporarily stop a demonic force. They are selfless, kind, and resigned to their duty. Friends, new and old join them. And they question whether their sacrifice will be worth it.
Promare and Fire Force also have very distinct artistic style differences that help to differentiate the two. Fire Force is dripped in steampunk Meji imagery, with the proto-nationalist Company 7 of Asakusa drawing heavily from Edo era Fire Fighters and the standard military uniforms of the Fire Soldiers being a mixture of western catholic robes and Meji military-inspired.

In both Fire Force and Promare the cause of human combustion and the pyrokinetic powers is the intersection of an another dimension with our Earth. In the film Promare, the aliens that come from this dimension are called Promare and have bonded with humans giving them pyrokinesis. In Fire Force, the dimension is called Adolla, and its intersection with our world caused a great cataclysmic event destroying most of the earth, and also gave rise to pyrokinetic powers amongst humans.

This second release of Labour Force Survey data includes the latest detailed monthly and quarterly data. Some information, including industry, occupation, sector, job duration, and retrenchment, is only available for February, May, August and November.
As a result, in the 'non-quarter' months, the quarterly spreadsheets and datacubes have a different reference period. For example, the May issue contains May monthly and May quarterly data, while the July issue will contain July monthly and May quarterly data.
The modelled estimates are also the best source of data for analysis at the Greater Capital City Statistical Areas level. While estimates for capital cities and the balance of states have not been directly modelled, the aggregated modelled SA4 data are better than the direct survey estimates, particularly for the balance of states which generally have smaller populations and smaller sample sizes.
These modelled estimates will be added to Labour Force, Australia, Detailed a week after release for the June 2024 reference month. From July 2024 onwards, these estimates will be published on the same day as Labour Force, Australia, Detailed.
The Labour Force Survey is designed for national and state and territory estimates with regional data produced as a secondary product. High levels of variability and extreme fluctuations are observable in the direct estimates. This can partly be because of real-world events, like floods, but are often due to the nature of sampling areas with smaller populations. As a result, the direct estimates are of lower statistical quality than the modelled estimates at the SA4 level, especially for sparsely populated rural and regional areas.
The Rao-Yu time-series model used to produce the modelled estimates provides less variable and more reliable levels of unemployment and employment as it draws on the strength of other administrative data and the strong relationship between that data and the labour force survey estimates. This administrative data includes de-identified Single-Touch Payroll data from the Australian Taxation Office for modelling employment and de-identified Youth allowance and JobSeeker recipients data from the Department of Social Services for modelling unemployment.

When using the direct survey estimates (e.g. for insights at the regional level by age and sex, or for periods for which modelled estimates are not available), previous advice on using (moving) annual averages applies. Annual averages are important for understanding the current state of the labour market, and providing medium and long-term signals, as they can lessen the impact of the month-to-month variability associated with small sample sizes.
