AnMCWORLD file is a Zip archive that contains all the files needed to load a Minecraft Bedrock or Education Edition world. Players often use MCWORLD files to back up their worlds or share them with other players. Each MCWORLD file contains multiple behavior and resource files, such as .DAT and .TXT files.

After saving a world as an MCWORLD file, players can upload them to world-sharing websites such as MCPEDL.com. Other players can then download the MCWORLD file and open it to play in the world it contains.

You can also view an MCWORLD file's contents using any Zip-decompression utility, such as 7-Zip (Windows), Apple Archive Utility (Mac), or B1 Free Archiver (multiplatform). You may have to rename the file's extension to .zip before you can decompress it.

The root cause of your problems is that the term "PS4 edition" is ambiguous. On one hand, there's the MineCraft edition that has been on PlayStation consoles since PS3, known as Legacy Console Edition. On the other hand however, there's Bedrock Edition which results from Pocket Edition, Windows 10 Edition, Gear VR Edition and Fire TV Edition being merged in the Better Together Update, and which has since been released on PS4 as well.

I also tried to download maps for Minecraft from PS4, downloaded .mcpack and .mcworld (minecraft bedrock edition) and used the Universal Minecraft Converter program, turning the files into .Bin. But unfortunately this is not enough, as it is necessary to have a PS4 save editor to change the identification of your profile file; this save editor is called Save Wizard, which is paid, but I can confirm, it is worth buying, because with it you can modify any game on your PS4.

Sorry, but the .mcworld archive is for Bedrock editions of Minecraft, and PS4 is not Bedrock, it is legacy console. Try Pocket Edition or Windows 10 Edition. EDIT: Sorry, I forgot to mention that PS4 has a Bedrock, (PS3 doesn't) but you're using Legacy Console rather than Bedrock.

I had a world on my iPad, called Town. I had to factory reset said iPad earlier this year. I wanted to save my Minecraft worlds on it, so I hopped into Files and grabbed the world folder. I uploaded it to my Google Drive. After the factory reset, I tried to put the world onto my PC (running bedrock). I converted the .zip to a MCWORLD file using this website:

In File Explorer, turn on show file extensions. Then, go to your downloaded zip file and rename it to a .mcworld file. File Explorer will ask you to confirm changing file extensions. Click yes, then import the file.

After you download a bedrock map, you should already have a file name with .mcworld in it, like FILE_NAME_HERE.mcworld. It should also have a Minecraft icon in it. Just double click it and it will automatically open in Minecraft. You can easily rename bedrock .zip files to a .mcworld simply by changing the extension.
