City of Rensselaer Planning Commission
Public Scoping Session & Comment Period

Public Notice is hereby given that the City of Rensselaer Planning
Commission as lead agency will hold a Special Meeting at 7:00 pm on
Thursday, May 15, 2008 on the first floor of City Hall, 62 Washington
Street, to invite public input on a draft scope document submitted by
Marx Properties under the State Environmental Quality Review Act
(SEQRA). All present will have the opportunity to be heard. In
addition, a written comment period on this draft scope will begin on
April 30, 2008. Written comments are due by 4:30 PM on May 23, 2008
to the contact listed below or may be submitted at the public hearing.

The action under SEQRA involves the proposal by Marx Properties to
construct a mixed use waterfront district (shorelines to be
reconfigured and engineered with public esplanade) for the following
site plan program elements: approximately 515 residential units,
165,000 square feet of retail space, 250,000 square feet of office
space, 1,830 parking spaces and 300 hotel rooms. The project is
located on the grounds of the former Rensselaer High School on the
Hudson River. The local address of the site is 575 Broadway,
Rensselaer, New York.

The City of Rensselaer Planning Commission, as lead agency, has
determined that the action may have a significant adverse impact on
the environment and a Draft Environmental Impact Statement must be
prepared. A Positive Declaration of Environmental Impact with Public
Scoping was published in the Environmental Notice Bulletin of February
13, 2008.

The draft scope document submitted outlines the potentially
significant environmental issues and impacts likely to arise from the
proposed project that will require further study or examination during
the preparation of the Draft Environmental Impact Statement. The
Planning Commission will consider all comments of involved agencies
and interested parties submitted during this public scoping process
before issuing a final scope.

Copies of the Draft Scope and related SEQRA documents will be
available (beginning April 30, 2008) for review at the City of
Rensselaer Office of Planning & Development on the second floor of
City Hall at 62 Washington Street and the City of Rensselaer Public
Library at 810 Broadway.
