Today they were both missing.
Anyone know where they went to?
ps. today we brought a few mugs incl. Mike's travel mug. the travel
mug was taken-- a positive sign.
Today someone gave the suggestion that we have a tub that would hold
other's personal mugs that no one else would take. He'd wash his own
in the bathroom and would reuse it each week. But same problem we have
now, either storage or transport. I can't do it alone. Is it time to
call an end to mug transport? but I'm not done yet. How come others
are?

Would you bring mugs if 50 people used them? Would you do it if only
40 people used them? would you do it for 30 people? what about 20? how
about 10? Would you keep a committment if only 10 people used them?
Remember that bible story?
There are different levels of committment. Some will use mugs but
won't drive them. some will sign up for a googlegroups but won't hand
out flyers. Some will take stickers and some will bring their own
travel mug. And some are doing good just to get themselves to church.
No one has donated any travel mugs. If there is no mug station where
would they feel comfortable dropping them off? I think you should do
what you're passionate about.
I spoke with Sarah and Ananda (that previous week's crew) discussing
mugs and stickers, but did not ask them to store them outright.
I'm not expecting tear down crews to gather mugs. However, I do expect
those who feel strongly about environmentalism to be more commited
than I am. I am not the environmentalist. Have to find more people
to rotate.
Have to make it easier on the drivers.
And we should not dialogue with the consumers. Just let them take a
mug if they want or not. Don't watch the crowd or you'll get
disheartened as you see 795 of the 800 take a paper cup.

I've just e-mailed Clark expressing my concern that our efforts are floundering, largely due to a lack of support from the church leadership. Not being able to wash or store mugs at Franklin is a major obstacle to reusable mugs catching on and becoming typical. I'm sure that people would start bringing travel mugs if the church were to phase out paper cups altogether. (The same is true for water bottles.) However, if Imago Dei doesn't really believe that environmental sustainability is more important that convenience, then our mug outreach is highly unlikely to have any significant impact. I'm willing to commit time and energy when meaningful results are achievable, but not for the sake of merely symbolic gestures.

P.S. Did Jonah ever send you a check? He just told me that he's quitting both Imago and Renovo. Both he and KB have evidently lost hope in our mission.
