Each CCISD campus has an onsite school cafeteria that serves breakfast, lunch, and a la carte snacks during scheduled meal times. Our dedicated foodservice team provides nutritious and balanced meals to all students and staff within CCISD.
Our Child Nutrition Dietician creates nutritionally sound menus that meet the needs of students while maintaining compliance with all state and federal guidelines as they relate to the National School Lunch and School Breakfast Programs.
While lunch can always be brought from home, there are a variety of food options available for students in the school cafeterias. Breakfast and lunch meals are offered daily and students may receive special pricing by building a complete meal. Students may qualify for additional meal benefits through the Free and Reduced Meal Program. A la carte items (snacks) are also available for students to purchase.
CCISD leverages SchoolCafè as an online menu and payment management system for all student meals. This robust platform allows families to add funds to a student account, check account history, set a la carte purchasing restrictions, view and print school menus, review nutrition and allergen information, as well as apply for meal benefits. It is also the payment method for student meals in our school cafeterias.

We have an incredible faculty and staff who dedicate many hours of their day to prepare engaging lessons and connect with their students. Our teachers work incredibly hard at creating a welcoming school environment that promotes learning, independent thinking, and personal growth. It is normal for our teachers to be standing out in the hallways during passing period, having one on one conversations with students, high-fiving students during lunch, and providing extra supervision in our parking lots before and after school. Once a week, our teachers collaborate by department where they are aligning their lessons, discuss strategies, and share their practices with each other.
We are excited to offer multiple after school opportunities for our students. We have Boys and Girls Club which provides group tutoring and sports, PureGames Soccer Team, Weightlifting Club, Math Zone for Math Tutoring, Art Club, Mariachi Club, Running Club, Latinos Unidos, and more! The more involved a student is on campus, the more connected and successful they will be at school.

Here at Alamitos, we pride ourselves on the recognition the district has given us for the hard work we have put in as a community. We have been awarded 3 years in a row for AVID School-wide Site of Distinction (2016, 2017, 2018). We received the California Honor Roll for High Achievement in 2016. Just one year later, we were named a Title I Academic Achieving School as well as a Gold Ribbon School. Alamtios earned the title of District Spelling Bee winner, Superior Ratings for Orchestra, Choir, and Band at the District Festival. Alamitos was also recognized as an AVID 8th grade Stand-out Scholarship Winner! Throughout May 2018, we will be pending for a 4th year with this award. Teachers, administrative staff, and students will continue to work hard and exceed GGUSD's expectations by learning important skills and thriving in a diverse climate.

Dear Parents and Families,
As we begin the 2023-2024 school year, I hope that you and your family found the time to relax and enjoy the summer. My name is Juan Alvarez, and I am the principal of Doig Intermediate. I am very passionate about helping students maximize their potential and look forward to partnering with you to provide students with a high-quality educational experience.
Before joining the Doig Intermediate team, I served in a variety of teaching and educational leadership roles. Some of the roles I have held included being a first, second, third, and sixth grade teacher at Russell Elementary, Riverdale Elementary, and Cook Elementary. I was also a Special Education teacher at Ralston Intermediate for six years. In addition to being a teacher, I was a Teacher on Special Assignment in the 7-12 Instructional Office. For five years, I worked at Santiago High School as an assistant principal. I have had the good fortune to work closely with the families of our community, and I am looking forward to continuing that support as the principal of Doig Intermediate.
My academic background includes a Bachelors of Arts in English Literature from the University of California, Irvine and a Master of Arts in Special Education from Chapman University. Prior to attending college, I graduated from Los Amigos High School in 1997. I am very proud to have been a student of Garden Grove Unified School District as it prepared me for college and helped me in achieving a career that has been so rewarding. The same educational values that were taught to me, I hope to instill in our students by teaching them about the positive rewards of lifelong learning.
I am confident that with the creativity and collaborative spirit of our Doig team, we will continue to offer an amazing education and school culture that connects students and families with their school. Our Family Council is centered around the AVID program, consisting of a parent group that comes together to help with fundraising, assemblies, and events. Participants make it their goal to hold quality events as a means to enhance students' educational experiences. Our program's partnership with AVID also encourages scholars to join the road to college for future success. Parents can get involved through monthly meetings and other invites. We look forward to expanding our family group and coordinating wonderful events!
Doig was awarded the AVID National Demonstration Award out of all intermediate schools in the Garden Grove Unified School District. We are also a PBIS School, currently bronze and moving up to silver with our students' chronic effort and achievement! Our teachers and staff highly value all forms of success and accolades students with awards such as Honor Roll, the Principal's Award, and Most Improved Award.
