Hi Rehabbers,
I received the following request from a friend this morning and thought I would see if anyone out in Des Moines rehabber-land has a lead on a set of cabinets in good enough condition (and without lead paint) that they would be willing to donate to a public school classroom.
Please reply to me personally (
swilke...@gmail.com) and I'll forward your information.
Thanks,
Steve
Do you happen to have any connections or contacts of anyone who is
wanting to get rid of their kitchen cupboards? Or someone who owns an
"old house" and has a former set in their basement storage when the
owner replaced the kitchen with new cabinets? Thought you might
possibly have some "home" connections... I am trying to score an
inexpensive (or free!) set of cupboards or shelves. I will do the
teardown and hauling. It is to contribute to my son's classroom at
Cowles Elementary. I think his teacher is the only one in the school who has no
cupboards above her practical life area (where the sink is, etc) and she
is in need of some sort of cupboards or shelves for storage.
Craigslist and the Habitat store have left me empty handed in my search
thus far. The ones at Habitat were $700 and I'm in no financial
position to give the school that kind of donation. :)
I realize it's a long shot in this inquiry, but I also have learned in life that it never hurts to ask.
