Here's an update from Ami Rodman of Des Moines Neighbors.
They are still looking for people who can bus up to Cedar Rapids - CR is further behind in the cleanup effort (and has much further to go).
The meeting location for the Birdland effort will be Union Park at 9:00 am. Meet in the parking lot between the carousel and the rocket slide. A coordinator will be there from 9:00 to 11:00.
Most of the initial clean-up in the Birdland neighborhood has been done. There are very few things left to do that involve rubber gloves and sanitizer supplies. However, the major need right now is basically reconstruction type things. The houses are cleaned and are in situations where the re-building has to begin... Hopefully, there will be some people that can handle light duty building type items. Maybe make a little progress. It should be a volunteer commitment of only a couple hours and may require the volunteers to walk the neighborhood and just ask homeowners if they have an immediate need, like anything you can do right now.
