I am a huge fan of the square foot gardening principals. With an
emphasis on the why garden like a farmer. We are not farming we are
gardening. My only really successful gardens in this area have been
with this method as well. This last year I grew over 30 tomato plants
(yes we used them all) as well as growing 132 tobacco plants (yes
tobacco) in an area a little more than 220 square feet. Now any farmer
would tell you you have to have over 900 sq feet for that many plants.
Thank goodness I was not farming cause by gardening I got them to grow
just fine in 220 feet. There is actually a lot of reasons this is
true.

I love to grow Roses and am told I am pretty good at it. I just
planted two roses this past spring after having not had any for years.
so we will see if I am still any good at it.

I like to try and cheat mother nature. I go along way to extend the
season around here. Planting out early and playing Russian roulette
with our spring freezes. Stating plant indoors, trying to keep them
out late etc. I actually do not have a lot of room for a garden after
the tomatoes and Tobacco. but many things that apply to them such as
soil quality, fertilization, irrigation etc. apply to just about
anything that is grown.

For the most part I can grow fairly green grass red roses and smokable
tobacco. I am not an expert at any of it.
