Step1: Use this tutorial to print some of your Instagram pictures at any store (and really inexpensively I might add)- print as 5x7s. I printed mine at Walmart this time and they turned out really well!

I also played around in Photoshop ahead of time with my pics. I added some graphic shape overlays, just to add a little something to them. I love the pictures as is, but I wanted to also make them a bit more of a graphic feature than just pictures. That part is totally optional.

Step 4: Using craft paint or any leftover wall paints you have, paint the edges of each wood block. This is where you can get creative and completely customize this project to fit your space/style. I went with really deep earth tones to balance out all the light pinky/peach.

With origins in India, block printing is an ancient technique dating back centuries. Basically, skilled artisans engrave designs on wooden blocks and then stamp them onto fabric. Though you can buy authentic block printed textiles through small businesses, some mainstream retailers now create mass produced designs. Either way, if you love the look of hand block printing, there are plenty of home decor items to choose from these days.

Recently, I purchased a pretty tissue box cover in a batik pattern block print look. With all the blue and white in my home office, it fit right in. Plus, the color and pattern works so well with my coastal aesthetic in there. (And during allergy season, a box of tissues is a necessity in my office!)

*At the moment, my exact tissue box cover is sold out but here are all the similar versions with slight variations of color. And if those are sold out, here are a bunch more beautiful ones to choose from!

So, when I started planning my guest room remodel, I knew I wanted to do something special with a paint accent. I hope that this simple color block paint tutorial gives you some ideas of out of the box ways to use paint!

Placing artwork above a bed can be tricky. It can look too small very easily, especially with a king size bed. Rather than clutter this wall with additional hangings, I wanted to make the artwork appear more substantial to fill the wall.

To make a wood block piece of art for your wall, simply chop the end off a 1 x 8 common board to create a wood square. Then, paint the frame color, tape off the edge, and paint your artboard color, then finally, paint your design. This easy-to-make wood craft takes about 20 minutes and costs less than $2.

As far as what type of paint to use, go with whatever you have on hand. I like using matte interior latex paint in general, but I used acrylics for the artwork itself so I could mix the exact color I had in mind.

Using your preferred color, likely white, paint the area not covered by tape to create the artboard for your piece. Again, you can paint your artboard any color you like. A blue background with a crisp white design would be gorgeous. Or maybe a hot pink with a neon yellow design for a pop new wave look?

These can easily stand up on their own if you want to style them on a floating shelf or a mantle, but if you prefer to hang them on the wall I recommend Command strips rather than messing with hanging hardware. So much easier!

There are tons of paint options to add a little pizzaz to your home. Stripes, ceilings, even different shapes like chevron. Most people think of painting an entire wall but you can get a fun look with color blocking. This means to basically create a block of color on the wall.

To do this, paint along the outer edges of the wall in your base color, here it is white. Tim chose this wall opposite the bed to do the color block and it is in a very dark gray, which basically looks black.

Hi,

I am not sure the height of the ceiling in this room. I would guess about 8-9 feet. Good question though, you definitely want to make the color block look like it fits in the right space on the wall in relation to the ceiling. Hope that helps.

This project started with three black wooden blocks of varying sizes. The sizes I used were Large -9.57.251.5, Medium -75,51.5 and Small -53.51.5. To prep my blocks for the finials, I used my drill to create holes in the top of each block. Once all of the holes were drilled, I did a dry fitting to make sure they all looked the way I wanted them to.

FrogTape for Textured Surfaces is more than just your average painters tape. It is specifically designed to create sharp paint lines on those surfaces that do have some texture, eliminating the bleed through that might occur with other tapes.

My goal was to take the dull gray concrete blocks and transform them into sparkly presents wrapped in a pretty bow. I knew I wanted to use them as outside holiday decor, so by using the illusion of paint lines, I knew it be the perfect crafty solution.

Then I applied FrogTape stripes on top of my red painted stripes, making sure there was enough overlap of the red paint on each side. To activate the first step of the FrogTape process, you need to wet it slightly with a damp cloth. I used a wet paper towel to wipe the outside of the tape stripes.

Next is where the magic happens. The second step in the FrogTape process is to apply a generous coat of the sealer on the edges of your paint lines and let dry for 15 minutes. There is a special brush applicator that helps.

When that was dry, it was time for the big reveal! I removed the tape and added a pretty PVC glittery bow on the top of my holiday box. I used a little glue from my glue gun to attach the PVC bow that I found at my local Big Lots.

A broom is helpful when it comes to keeping the area around your wall free from debris and dirt. As you can see from the photo above, the bottom of my wall consists of five half-size cinder blocks. As mentioned earlier, it may be a better idea to use full-size cinder blocks on the bottom row, as this will help stabilize your wall. You may also choose to make the bottom row wider than the top for added sturdiness.

You will add plants to the openings that protrude in the next step. You may also want to stagger the placement of your blocks, as shown above. Note that the full-size cinder blocks extend beyond the back of each half-size cinder block for added sturdiness.

Today, we want to share 3 different and easy ways to hang pictures and art on a concrete wall. We will also explore a little bit about the different types of masonry hardware for future reference.

There are 3 go-to methods of hanging picture frames and art on a concrete wall. Depending on the weight and size of your objects, you can use Adhesive Wall Hooks, Hardwall Hangers, and Masonry Screws.

Adhesive ZigZag Picture Hangers are ideally used for small pictures and lightweight art or objects. They have an adhesive backing that sticks firmly to the wall and can usually hold up to 6 pounds (with 2 hangers), depending on the brand being used.

3. Remove the paper lining at the back of the hanger, then press firmly. The adhesive is best activated if evenly rubbed or burnished with a hard smooth object. Wait for 24-48 hours for the adhesive to get a good grip of the wall before hanging anything.

Hardwall hangers, also known as hardwall plastic hooks, are concrete art hangers that are anchored on the wall with small metal nails. They work on concrete, cement, cinder block, thin plaster over concrete, small smooth brick, softstone, and hardwood.

1. Place the back side of a hardwall plastic hook against the wall using your thumb and index finger to hold it in position. Try to keep the hook firmly against the wall and as steady as possible.

Also known as Concrete Screws, these are reliable hangers used for concrete, concrete block, brick, and mortar. These little guys have a pointed end that drives straight into the concrete. Masonry screws are strong enough for hanging frames as long as its inserted 1 to 1 inches deep into the wall to maximize their holding power.
