Arlington Energy Masters Volunteer
Application Deadline is July 31
The award-winning Arlington
Energy Masters program is offering volunteers the
opportunity to learn techniques for improving energy and water
efficiency in affordable housing apartment buildings. An
excellent model for energy efficiency, community engagement,
and volunteer activism, the program offers:
- Hands-on training in energy efficiency and
weatherization techniques including sealing air leaks
around doors, windows, and electrical switch plates;
installing low-flow faucet aerators and shower heads; and
installing flow restrictors in toilets.
- The opportunity to meet other like-minded volunteers.
- Energy efficiency tips you can use in your own home.
- A way to give back to the community and help Arlington's
neediest families.
Applications
are now being accepted with a deadline of July 31. The
training takes place in September and October 2013 beginning
September 26. The program includes both a community volunteer
track and a student apprenticeship track for high school and
college students. The program sponsors are Arlington Thrive,
Arlingtonians for a Clean Environment, and Virginia
Cooperative Extension. More information: www.arlingtonenvironment.org
