Hi Mark, it was the desktop software powerpoint. Once I add the link I uploaded the file to docsend and then reviewed the docsend link to find that nothing happens at all when it gets to the page with the video. This does work with the desktop verison of word however but thats not a solution because you can't neatly convert a powerpoint file to word. Beleive me I have tried. The best that docsend support could say was "it works fine for us!". Useless lot.
There is no error. When any user, including myself, reaches that slide when viewing through a docsend link, nothing happens. No error message, no play button. It's as if nothing was embedded before. And as I say, it does work with Microsoft word.

Yes, you will need a 2nd monitor connected to your Mac. When you put Powerpoint in Presentation mode the slideshow feed is basically being sent to another screen, in the past that would typically have been a projector. Since there is no other screen or output connected GoToMeeting ends up sharing a white screen. If you connect another monitor and then select to share the Slideshow it will be displayed correctly for your attendees.
I guess it's necessary to let a relator share a powerpoint presentation in speaker mode NOT ONLY having a 2nd monitor connected. That's because a lot of conference call are perfomed in small environment, like room, during covid quarantine. I hope you'll fix this issue in the future.
We are in the process of moving to a SOE of windows 11 enrolled through auto pilot. There have been a few hiccups, but mostly going well.
The odd issue we are having now is that when staff insert a video from YouTube into PowerPoint on the SOE, you cannot play the video. You click play and nothing happens. It just doesn't play. No errors or event log entires.
I have had a look and cannot see any policies that would be blocking that from happening. We have 'Policies for Office apps' enabled with the suggested security baseline. The only two configured for PowerPoint are "Block macros from running in Office files from the internet" and "VBA Macro Notification Settings". none of these specifically state they will block that kind of internet files.
Does anyone else have any idea what might be blocking this? The policies were built with a 3rd party and that person is no longer available for questioning so trying to work out what has been blocked on my own.
After researching, I didn't find any link describe the same issue with the above setting. But, to confirm if the video in PowerPoint is blocked by this setting. I suggest choose one test user and device, open the PPT with the video insert to see if it can work. If it can work, then we can deploy the same security baseline policy to this user or device with "Block macros from running in Office files from the internet" set to see if will be affected.
Hi Crystal,
Thanks for your reply. Haven't had a chance to test, but the end user is saying that they are now working. If it is, I'm not changing anything. Just another weird intune thing I guess.
Windows 11 devices enrolled with Intune, embedded video's in powerpoint just do not respond. No error message, tried alot of checkboxes in powerpoint without result. We are not aware of setting the "Block macros from running in Office files from the internet"
The only thing that fixed ours was time. Apparently, PowerPoint uses IE is play embedded videos, obviously IE isn't included in windows 11. I don't know anything about why or the technical side, but after some time it's like PowerPoint realized it needed to use edge and then things just started working again. Not helpful at all I know, but just the way it happened for us.
The only thing that seemed to resolve it for me was logging out of office and then it works, after logging back into office it continued to work. Which doesn't make sense but somehow resolved it. Rather strange!
I am a new user to Panopto. I am a university faculty member and am trying to record my lectures with my powerpoint slides. When I share the screen as per the instructions, the powerpoint slides do not work. I get a single screen that will not move to the next slide. I am trying to go through the powerpoint slides with my picture in the corner or, better yet, side by side the powerpoints. But the program does not seem to work as the instructions indicate it should.
I have tried the application window and chrome tab options. When I select the application window, Panopto goes to the application, but I am not in the window. It is just the powerpoint slides. When I go back to the browser with the camera, I see the powerpoint slide in but the powerpoint slides will not work.
If you have access to Panopto through your university, I would recommend recording with the Panopto desktop recorder instead of the new Panopto Capture web app. Here is the guide for that: -recording-1
This is how you would record when recording the whole screen. If you would like to record just the powerpoint application (not the whole screen), follow step 5.2 of this article: -to-Create-a-Video-Using-Panopto-Capture#hTargetInstance4
Kathryn, Thanks for your help. I thought that I had figured it out. In fact, I was able to record several videos exactly like I wanted. However, now I have run into a different problem. I cannot get Panopto to record the camera. I have been trying to record a side-by-side lecture using Google Slides using the free recorder available at panopto.com (I have used the pro recorder as well and the same thing happens). I select the microphone, then the camera, then a select the google tab with the particular google slide show that I want to use. I have it set by side-by-by side presentation. I hit record and then go to the Chrome tab with the slide show. I record the lecture going through the slides. At the end, then I switch back to panopto and stop the recording. I upload it to my Pro folder and find that only the sound recorded. The camera is not recording my face. I have recorded the lecture at least 8 times trying to get the side-by-side presentation. I have switched computers, I have tried using picture in a picture. I have tried recording with just the slide show appearing. Nothing has worked. I cannot get panopto to record my face and the slides in the same presentation. Have you any advice on what I need to do to get this to work? I am at my wits end. I am using Panopto because it is the only software that I could find that would do side-by-side presentations. I was able to make several that worked just fine. Now I cannot get it to record using the camera. It seems that whenever I start recording, the camera is turned off. Help!
Also, it is possible that another application is trying to access your camera at the same time as Panopto which could cause a conflict - if you have any other camera-using applications open, please make sure to close them.
If you desperately need to import powerpoint slides into Moodle, and I you are getting this error message because you are using Powerpoint 2003 (MS Office 2003), I can try to lay my hands on a workaround I found some time ago to solve that problem.
The above works in Moodle 1.6 and 1.7 without any changes for presentations created with versions of PowerPoint prior to MS Office 2003. If you want to use presentations made with PowerPoint 2003 you'll have to make a minor change in file moodle\mod\lesson\importppt.php around line 135.
Just to throw a small 'spanner in the works' I uploaded a ppt2003 file after making the changes suggested and it worked, not entirely as i expected but it did work, so fired with enthusiasm I decided to try it out on some other ppt files some with graphics and it did not work, even after converting the files to plain, graphic'less' text with no colour, it still did work. The error message was 'cannot load data' which has been reported in another forum, but that thread was talking about uploading ppt2003 files to 1.5.x. Anyone have any ideas.
My first attempt was with a plain ppt that had always been a plain ppt and that worked, my second attempt was with a pretty ppt which did not work. Then I looked into it further and discovered the tips page and turned the pretty ppt into a plain ppt but it still did not work and now having just tested it again does not work with the original plain ppt.
Dear Sir/ Ma'am,
I am a student of NSU (North South University) and I'm recently having problems accessing the slides of all of my courses. It works fine on my phone but it's inaccessible from my mac. If you would kindly look into it.
Thank you.
