[10:59] Adar Merlin: lady Keynes how nice
to see you
[11:00] Korrigan Keynes: Hello, Master Merlin
[11:01] Adar Merlin: How are you doing?
[11:01] Korrigan Keynes: Quite fine. Did we lose Lady Diamond?
[11:01] Adar Merlin: tis nice to see you
[11:01] Adar Merlin: yup
[11:01] Korrigan Keynes: Good den, Master Veliz
[11:01] Dean Veliz: Greetings
[11:01] Korrigan Keynes: She is having vista issues today
[11:02] Adar Merlin: g'day sir
[11:02] Dean Veliz: good day to you also
[11:03] Korrigan Keynes: Should we send out a reminder, or have folks
already been apprised of the meeting?
[11:03] Adar Merlin: Di sent one an hour ago
[11:03] Adar Merlin: but perhaps one more would not hurt
[11:03] Korrigan Keynes: Ah, well, then.....that should do
[11:03] Korrigan Keynes: Well, ok <-:
[11:03] Adar Merlin: ??
[11:04] Korrigan Keynes: I can send another
[11:04] Adar Merlin: your looking fit sir
[11:04] Adar Merlin: been chopping wood
[11:04] Adar Merlin smiles
[11:05] Dean Veliz: My computer is running exceptionally slow today
[11:05] Adar Merlin: whew love the outfit Di
[11:05] Adar Merlin: oh it rezzed now
[11:05] Diamond Coronet: thanks
[11:05] Diamond Coronet: i cant stay connected
[11:06] Adar Merlin: Deans been having issues
[11:06] Diamond Coronet: i freeze and dont know i am off line
[11:06] Diamond Coronet: i sent you Info Kor on what I am going to
try to discuss
[11:06] Adar Merlin: every time they reboot their system
[11:07] Adar Merlin: i have experienced that also
[11:07] Adar Merlin: aggravating
[11:07] Korrigan Keynes: OK...I have that, Diamond, and also just
sent another reminder to the groups.
[11:08] Korrigan Keynes: Among my own contact list, I don't see
anyone there who isn't here.
[11:08] Diamond Coronet is Offline
[11:08] Adar Merlin: oops lost her again
[11:09] Korrigan Keynes: Oops...gone again
[11:09] Adar Merlin chuckles
[11:09] Adar Merlin: tis sl
[11:09] Korrigan Keynes: She did send me a couple of lists of stuff
to discuss.
[11:09] Korrigan Keynes: That way, we can at least get the items into
the transcript that will be sent to everyone, methinks.
[11:09] Adar Merlin: good thinking
[11:10] Adar Merlin: ohoh
[11:10] Adar Merlin: either a long message
[11:10] Adar Merlin: or stuck typing
[11:10] Korrigan Keynes: She wanted everyone to know that Stepping
into History was a Great Success. So much so, that we can pay for Ren
Island for another year! I am not sure how far that carries us, but
methinks it may be into March of 2009. Will need to double-check with
Diamond on that. Huzzah!
[11:11] Adar Merlin: wonderful news
[11:11] Korrigan Keynes: We're all set to rent, and we need to get
the word out to those interested.
[11:11] Adar Merlin nods
[11:12] Adar Merlin: yes the system seems to be working good
[11:12] Korrigan Keynes: We are also looking for a PR person to help
bring in organizations through events.
[11:12] Dean Veliz: I finally figured out the rental system and have
now current
[11:13] Adar Merlin: are we paying them??
[11:13] Korrigan Keynes: That is what I should be doing, but I am
worried about taking on a major responsibility until I know that I
really could commit that amount of time to being in SL.
[11:13] Adar Merlin: great Dean
[11:13] Adar Merlin: how was it to use??
[11:13] Korrigan Keynes: I believe it would be on a volunteer basis,
Adar.
[11:13] Dean Veliz: once I knew my shop number is easy
[11:13] Adar Merlin: understandable Lady Keynes
[11:14] Adar Merlin: tis quite a commitment
[11:14] Adar Merlin: but it does require someone with your
connections methinks
[11:14] Korrigan Keynes: In other words, we need someone who is an
ambassador for SL, that can get events held over here.
[11:15] Adar Merlin nods
[11:15] Korrigan Keynes: Well, or someone who is willing to work with
the various groups. Off the top if my head--we have the Shakespeare
Theatre, the Storytellers Guild--many of these are already known to
us. But it's just taking the time to make the connection, establish a
dialog, and get the event planned out.
[11:16] Korrigan Keynes: And all else that would go with it. We're
already doing a lot of this--I am in awe of the number of things
everyone is doing here.
[11:16] Adar Merlin: well...Zanzibar has been doing much for us
[11:16] Korrigan Keynes: Indeed! And it was great to hear that
Atheene was back for a concert. Did it go well, btw?
[11:16] Adar Merlin: yes
[11:16] Adar Merlin: not sure
[11:17] Adar Merlin: I tried to show but crashed
[11:17] Adar Merlin: I would like to see the Globe being used
[11:18] Korrigan Keynes: Indeed!
[11:18] Korrigan Keynes: Could use for poetry readings. I am not sure
how the guy from NY made out with his machinima class last fall, but
it would be great to have a showing of the resulting video.
[11:19] Korrigan Keynes: We haven't had any luck, methinks,
contacting Showtime again, re: the Tudors.
[11:19] Adar Merlin nods
[11:20] Korrigan Keynes: July 18th we are having a Lammas Tide
Masquerade Ball at the manor to celebrate the success of renovating
and all of the residents hard work. Hopefully the “King” will be there
to knight some
[11:20] Adar Merlin: great
[11:20] Korrigan Keynes: I haven't been around to know exactly what
has been planned.
[11:20] Adar Merlin: I get to use my mask
[11:20] Adar Merlin: hehehe
[11:21] Adar Merlin: we talked of another festival..feast...and a
joust towards the end of the month
[11:21] Korrigan Keynes: Diamond is also working on a town crier to
auto hand out events and notices and wants to have a TP site on the
commons area by the wonderful carriage tour that Dean has created.
[11:21] Adar Merlin: indeed
[11:21] Korrigan Keynes: Indeed--and maybe this is all stuff you've
already discussed. :)
[11:22] Korrigan Keynes: Let me switch to the IM message and see what
else Diamond would say if she were here to do so.
[11:22] Adar Merlin: Dean has set us up with a working potters wheel
[11:22] Korrigan Keynes: Great!
[11:22] Adar Merlin: and we can now chop wood also
[11:23] Adar Merlin: work the wheel for three minutes
[11:23] Adar Merlin: and get a free pot
[11:23] Korrigan Keynes: Neat!
[11:23] Korrigan Keynes: Zanzibar is working on the program for the
18th, so we're in good shape with that!
[11:24] Adar Merlin: and a nice pot it is
[11:24] Adar Merlin nods
[11:25] Korrigan Keynes: We are also hoping that Thom will be able to
stream that night. Apparently we are still have issues in streaming
our own music. We have the stream and even the music to stream, but
getting it right on our computers is neither Diamond's nor my area of
expertise. Anyone want to visit me in Ithaca and help? <-:
[11:26] Adar Merlin: sure be right there
[11:26] Korrigan Keynes: Great! Thanks! <-:
[11:26] Adar Merlin grins
[11:26] Korrigan Keynes: I see the note about the faire--who is
working on that?
[11:26] Korrigan Keynes: Like you say, with the jousting and all?
[11:27] Korrigan Keynes: Or...do we need volunteers?
[11:27] Adar Merlin: do not think any progress has been made
[11:28] Adar Merlin: I hope to be around....but depends on work ....
[11:28] Adar Merlin: I am doing some volunteer work at this time
[11:28] Korrigan Keynes: Ah...ok! I am going to be at a RL
Renaissance faire the weekend of the 25th, but the Sunday after that
weekend (the 3rd)? would probably work for me.
[11:28] Korrigan Keynes: Ahh
[11:29] Adar Merlin: so I am having to acclimate to a day schedule
[11:29] Korrigan Keynes: Ahh
[11:29] Dean Veliz: I find it hard to commit to anything I am now an
assisted living facility
[11:29] Adar Merlin: we can just hope some knights are ready to
battle when the time comes
[11:30] Adar Merlin: tho we can and will put out the word
[11:31] Adar Merlin: we had some experienced jouster at the last one
[11:31] Korrigan Keynes: Ahh
[11:31] Adar Merlin: we offered like 2000 l in prize money
[11:32] Korrigan Keynes: OK
[11:32] Adar Merlin: Dean made a generous donation for that also
[11:32] Adar Merlin: will need someone to encourage the merchants
[11:33] Adar Merlin: tho not much interest to set up was seen when
last we tried it
[11:34] Korrigan Keynes: Well, we could try it again, I suppose. It
is a nice chance for some merchant visibility.
[11:34] Adar Merlin nods
[11:35] Adar Merlin: i wonder if an advertisement would attract
merchants with period or close items??
[11:35] Adar Merlin: from other lands
[11:36] Korrigan Keynes: Seems to me that we could do that, and
minimally charge them.
[11:36] Adar Merlin: offer a free booth or perhaps get a percentage
[11:36] Korrigan Keynes: I should say, fairly charge them. <-:
[11:36] Korrigan Keynes: Yes..either way.
[11:36] Adar Merlin: of course we cannot guarantee visitors tho
[11:37] Adar Merlin: the Sainte George festival was well attended as
I remember
[11:38] Adar Merlin: that was the last joust
[11:38] Korrigan Keynes: Ah--great--and as I recall, I wasn't able to
be here for that. Ifeel like I've awoke from a 20 year slumber.
[11:38] Adar Merlin: hehehee
[11:39] Korrigan Keynes: Ripplie Van Winkle. <-:
[11:39] Adar Merlin nods
[11:39] Dean Veliz: Did Shakespeare had any nude scenes
[11:39] Adar Merlin: ??
[11:39] Korrigan Keynes: Heh--well, he had some scenes that could be
done a bit nude...
[11:39] Adar Merlin: lookin fer a job
[11:39] Adar Merlin smiles
[11:39] Dean Veliz: it would attract visitors
[11:39] Korrigan Keynes: as in Zefferelli's Romeo and Juliet.
[11:40] Korrigan Keynes: When the movie came out, there were two nude
moments that were later stricken from the version circulating in
theatres at the time. The nude scene was restored to the video
[11:40] Adar Merlin: ahh
[11:41] Adar Merlin: might pull in some bored school teachers
[11:41] Adar Merlin: hehehe
[11:41] Adar Merlin: but not quite what we were shooting for
[11:41] Korrigan Keynes: As a preteen, I saw the non-censored version
and cannot remember being particularly traumatised...though my friend
and I went on to enter a rendition of the soundtrack cover in an art
class.
[11:42] Korrigan Keynes: Both of our works made it into the art faire
that year, but were pulled when one even younger person commented,
"That the naked scene from Romeo & Juliet!"
[11:42] Korrigan Keynes: Censored.
[11:42] Adar Merlin: hehhehehe
[11:43] Korrigan Keynes: So sure--we could advertise our work as
putting Zefferelli's nude scenes to shame!
[11:43] Korrigan Keynes: hahaha
[11:43] Adar Merlin: most youth seem to be more balanced than us
methinks
[11:43] Korrigan Keynes: Mmmmm
[11:44] Adar Merlin: but I think we have banned the youths anyway
[11:44] Adar Merlin: ???
[11:44] Adar Merlin: I was hoping we would turn into a class room
[11:44] Korrigan Keynes: Oh...you mean any of the pre-18 year olds
finding their way to Info Island sims, including this one? Yes, that's
my understanding.
[11:45] Adar Merlin: but am not sure just where we are heading
[11:45] Korrigan Keynes: With regard to which, Adar?
[11:45] Adar Merlin: or what our ultimate goal is
[11:45] Korrigan Keynes: Do you mean for a play production, or for
Ren Island in general?
[11:46] Adar Merlin: we been concentrating so much on building
[11:46] Adar Merlin: the isle in general
[11:46] Adar Merlin: the targeted audience
[11:47] Adar Merlin: I have always considered the events as ancillary
[11:48] Korrigan Keynes: Many, many months ago, I began working on
the Thinkerer Melville Challenge. To do that, we had to articulate a
vision, mission, goals. Those would at least be a starting point. In
that we are part of Info Island's Archipelago, we have to look at the
overall vision contained therein. But yes, we really need goals, which
are broad, and then specific objectives. It would keep us pretty
focused.
[11:48] Adar Merlin nods
[11:49] Korrigan Keynes: That might be a good discussion for the, er.
discussion list. Is everyone now on that?
[11:49] Korrigan Keynes: The Ren google group?
[11:49] Adar Merlin: now that the isle is up and functioning again
[11:49] Adar Merlin: must say I have not visited it recently
[11:50] Korrigan Keynes: We could post a draft document to get the
discussion started.
[11:50] Adar Merlin: yes
[11:50] Korrigan Keynes: I do not check
Korriga...@gmail.com. For
the record, if anyone needs to reach me, they need to use
pleia...@hotmail.com.
[11:50] Adar Merlin: I know we have members that could bring in
educators
[11:50] Korrigan Keynes: But--I can still post to the Ren group and
go there without having to look at the 13,000 unread posts.
[11:51] Adar Merlin: we just need get their interest again
[11:51] Korrigan Keynes: I haven't given up on Patrick. One thing
that I want to still do is to post the notes from the class that I
took, to the Ning.,
[11:52] Korrigan Keynes: I'd like to do that on behalf of his class
and for Ren Island. One thing that is good to happen, and has to be
address in the Thinker Challenge, is outfacing--what do you learn in
SL that you give back to the real world?
[11:52] Korrigan Keynes: I think that when we can establish
meaningful dialogue and learning between SL residents and RL classes,
that moves all of us forward.
[11:53] Adar Merlin: that sounds great
[11:53] Korrigan Keynes: Hmm
[11:53] Korrigan Keynes: I made it to half of those classes. I can
initially post what I have, and others can fill it in. Even Patrick
And...he did give permission for me to do this.
[11:53] Korrigan Keynes: Think my last comment went astray
[11:53] Korrigan Keynes: ah no...there it is!
[11:54] Adar Merlin: cht lag
[11:54] Korrigan Keynes: I also have the results of the survey for
his class to still write up. It was a small sample size to be sure,
but very interesting.
[11:55] Adar Merlin: perhaps we could send out to our groups and
attempt to stimulate some interest
[11:55] Adar Merlin: let them know we are moving forward
[11:55] Adar Merlin nods
[11:56] Adar Merlin: with a challenge to give us some ideas for
moving forward
[11:56] Korrigan Keynes: Indeed! And I hope as everyone reads this
transcript, they hone in on some areas that they might be interested
to contribute! Indeed!
[11:57] Dean Veliz: Goodnight parting is such sweet sorrow in other
words it's nap time
[11:57] Adar Merlin: later Dean
[11:57] Korrigan Keynes: we shall say goodnight til it be morrow!
[11:57] Korrigan Keynes: Thanks, Dean, for being here!
[11:57] Korrigan Keynes: I need to run, too.
[11:57] Adar Merlin: and i tis 2 am and i have a class in the morning
[11:57] Korrigan Keynes: I will post the transcript to the lists and
Ren-l-maybe with a summary!
[11:58] Korrigan Keynes: Oh my!
[11:58] Korrigan Keynes: Well, good e'en to you, too! Nice to see
you!
