We have the following items to consider in our system:

 

Atropine

Mostly bad news with some 1 mg / 1 mL vials available.

 

Calcium

http://www.fda.gov/Drugs/DrugSafety/DrugShortages/ucm314739.htm#calcium

Looks like 3^rd quarter of 2013 recovery.

 

Dextrose

http://www.fda.gov/Drugs/DrugSafety/DrugShortages/ucm314739.htm#dextrose

Looks like 3^rd quarter of 2013 recovery.

 

Diazepam

http://www.fda.gov/Drugs/DrugSafety/DrugShortages/ucm314739.htm#diazepam

We should be seeing recovery soon on this optional controlled substance.

 

Epinephrine

Pre-loads remain problematic but 1 mg / 1 mL ampules/vials are evidently available.

 

Lidocaine

We should be seeing recovery soon.

 

Magnesium

No good news; looks like recovery during the 3^rd quarter of 2013.

 

Midazolam

Morphine

Recovery expected 3^rd quarter of 2013.

 

Please provide feedback to the EMS Agency regarding any local shortages / necessary notifications after your agency reviews Policies 3301 and 3306 for both “Optional” and “Alternative” medications.
