If its more convenient you can also make your own mod folder in the exe Data folder rather than going into the standard Documents/User Data/Mods folder. The folder just has to be named so its the last thing alphabetically the game looks at on startup. Typically people name the folders zzzzz or something like that.
heh well this is where it gets fun. I use the exe data folder for mods I want in all the time - sounds etc and I'll do multiple installs if I want a particular mod set for something I do a lot like maybe a CMSF2 urban install and the documents mod folder is all the urban mods. You can offset that with tagged mods but a lot of mods are not tagged.
You don't need a Z folder for SF2. Go to where you installed SF2, you'll see two folders for some reason, "Combat Mission Shock Force 2" and "Shock Force 2", open "Shock Force 2" then user data/mods. Just drop them in mods and you are good.
I uninstalled the demo. The "Combat Mission Shock Force 2" folder was holding the brzs and scenario folders if I remember correctly. Can't check now 'cause I am on my laptop. I thought it was strange though.
A 'Z' folder you make yourself would be just for your own convenience. Ignore it if you don't need it. I rarely visit the CM folders in the Documents but the exe folder's always open and has got the Data folder right there. Also, I keep my games on a separate hard drive. My Z folder placed in the exe folder's Data folder means the game doesn't have to access art on two different drives.
I figured it out. Back when I got this comp I set up Windows so that My Documents, Videos, Music and Pictures were relegated to two separate drives instead of on the SSD. I have one 2TB drive dedicated just for games, which is where the My Documents folder is stored. When I installed SF2 I directly installed it into a main Combat Mission folder in My Documents which has all the CM titles in it, instead of the default "C:\Program Files (x86)\Battlefront\Combat Mission Shock Force 2" which would've been on my SSD. Normally, everything would be located in C:/Program Files under Combat Mission Shock Force 2 and the mod folder would've been in My Documents in a Shock Force 2 folder, hence the double folders and confusion.
My SSD is only 232GB. I wanted to keep it mainly for the OS and not constantly be adding and deleting thousands of files on it which happens when I mod and test. I figured by keeping it isolated and free from all that I would extend its life span over time.
Before you start modding Star Wars: Battlefront II (2017), you should make sure you have a legal copy of the game ready to install. If you don't own the game yet, you should consider buying a version of the game that includes all available DLC (if applicable) as some mods may not work without it.
In order to run mods with the game, your hardware should at least meet the minimum requirements system requirements. You will also need some additional hard drive space to account for the additional mod files and downloaded archives.
Before you install the game, we recommend that you have the game installed outside of the Program Files or Program Files (x86) folders. This will prevent your system security software from intefering with your modding experience.
For the most convenient modding experience, you should use several mod managers to download, install and manage mod files without having to ever open the game folder yourself. There are several options for Star Wars: Battlefront II (2017), a brief summary of each is provided in this article.
Please note that many new mods require the Frosty Alpha to work, the links can be found on the relevant mod pages. The link for the latest Alpha (5) is available here or on the Frosty Toolsuite Discord channel.
Inside Vortex, Navigate to the Dashboard on the left hand toolbar under your game and select "Add tool" and select "Frosty Mod Manager". You may have to edit the tool command line to direct the tool to the Frosty exe. You can now start Frosty from Vortex.
In the command line arguments, enter this text: -datapath "(your filepath to ModData here)\Pack Name" replacing "your filepath to ModData here" with the full file path to your ModData folder (ex: C:\Program Files(x86)\Origin Games\STAR WARS Battlefront II\ModData) and "Pack Name" with the name of the Pack you are using (most likely Default). You can find the name of your pack by looking at the top left of Frosty Mod Manager's window.
Hello everyone,
A few years back I had a list of about 5-6 large Battlefront 2 mods as a mod compilation installed in a specific order for maximum compatibility but unfortunately I uninstalled my BF2 from Steam and deleted the data a few months ago. I'm looking to play the game again with a mod compilation installed. Unfortunately I can't find a mod list with full compatibility so I was wondering whether anybody has a mod list they can send my way as I don't want to randomly install mods and regret it later haha.
The Game won't launch after trying to run mods even if i reinstall the game.
After trying to mod SWBFII other games like SW Squadrons, BFV, BFIV, BFI won't work either.
This is the second time it happened after a clean reset of windows
I have had this same issue, when I try to mount mods on battlefront 2 from the EA app, my game breaks irreversibly and without fail. I can quite literally never play battlefront 2 again unless I back up my entire system and clean boot it, which I have done once and I almost lost all of my computer data. I have almost fully given up on the game, using Battlefront Plus or 2022 was the only reason I redownloaded battlefront 2 to play on my PC. I followed all mod instructons to the letter, and without fail, I have tried every single fix and config option that is available on the internet. Redownloading the game doesn't work, restarting the PC doesn't work, redownloading EA itself doesn't work, clearing every single trace of EA, BF2, and all mods off my system and then trying to cleanly install and run the game normally doesn't work. I can never play this video game again without risking my data and having to spend days redownloading and configuring my whole computer system, and the best part, I HAVE GOT NO HELP. I have replied to comments, posted tickets of my own, done everything shy of trying to directly contact EA to get an answer, absolute crickets, not a single response. Best thing I have seen is other users essentially telling me tough luck. I don't know what makes my computer different from the thousands of other's who play the game modded, and it angers me to no end because I have a genuine passion for the Star Wars universe, Modding communities, and this video game franchise as a whole.
I'm in the same boat as you, man. I have done literally everything, but I still can't get the damn game to launch. Although, when I tried to do mods on my other pc, the mods didn't work, but the game still launched. Now on my new pc, the mods don't work and the game doesn't launch.
untrue, i have had the same problem with my game when trying to get mods. However, i have sorted it now although it was very stressful. if the game wont start at all its usually cus the cloud date cant sync or has been tampered with, try downloading Frosty Fix and then doing your mods of that? if the mods is the problem that is. Alternatively you could watch a youtube tutorial im pretty sure thats what i did and it just worked by the luck of it. i have had many problems with modding battlefront but ive never had to redownload or reset windows for it to fix.
