Minecraftcan be a daunting game for newcomers. From threatening mobs to thousands of collectible items, there's no shortage of ways for you to become overwhelmed by its blocky world. However, Mojang makes it easy to take full control of the landscape around you through the use of console commands.

Now that you've created your own Minecraft server, it's time to add your own unique flair to it by implementing Minecraft server commands. With that said, here's a guide to using Minecraft server commands, as well as a complete list of all commands you can use in Minecraft.

In the player spot, you will put the name of the person to whom you want to change the gamemode of, this could be yourself or another player on the server. In the next part, you will either put "0" which is Survival or "1" which is Creative. The brackets are not used. For example, a sample command would say: /gamemode 1 Carpetfizz which will change my game type to Creative mode.

The player spot is the person you want to teleport and the target is the person whom you want them to teleport to. Again, this could be yourself. A sample command would look like: /tp Carpetfizz Plexator which will teleport me to the person named Plexator.

In the player spot you will add the username of the player you want to give items to. This can either be yourself or other players. When using this command you cannot use the name of block, you must the ID of the block.

In the last part of this command you must enter the ammount of the item you want to give, bear in mind the maximum number of items in one 'stack' is 64 so your items may appear in more than one stack. When using this command the items will not be delivered into your inventory but will instead be dropped at your feet, as if you had dropped them. Because of this, be careful to stand on an edge or by Lava as your items may be lost.

Commands may also be entered in a multiplayer server's console, but are not preceded by a / when entered this way. A server owner running commands in this way is often referred to as "ghosting".

Most commands require the executor have a high enough permission level. That means most commands are available in the singleplayer world only if cheats are enabled, and available in multiplayer server only if the player is an operator. See permission level for details.

In Bedrock Edition, cheats can be toggled at any time in the "Game" tab of the settings menu. Enabling cheats in a world permanently prevents players from unlocking achievements in that world, even if cheats are later turned off.

If you want to contribute to this page, which is a work in progress, in the console type "help" to see the list of commands, then to see a description and parameter of a command, type "help [command-name]", and put the corresponding details into the list.

They allow to toggle the debug mode on and off, making it convenient to use the console and play, but this doesn't enable instant reloading of files. For modding, it's better to use both a mod and launch options.

For the Xbox Game Pass / Windows 10 Store edtion it's more complicated, as you cannot create a normal shortcut for it, so you'll have to run the following commands in Command Prompt every time you open the game:

To activate achivements again, disable all active mods and remove -debug_mode from launch options. After launching the game, make sure you have the correct checksum. It can be found in the right corner in the Main Menu.

Debug info can be enabled and disabled either from one of the console buttons or by using the debug_mode command. When debug info is activated, characters, interactions and events will show debug info which is normally hidden during normal gameplay. It should be noted that when debug info is enabled the game will consume a bit more resources but it shouldn't have a noticeable effect on most machines.

Hovering over event options will show the AI weight for the option. Also, in the top-right corner of the event window, hovering over the question mark (?) shows internal details, including the following:

Cheats are console commands that can be used to give unfair advantages as opposed to sole testing purposes. Note that pressing the Tab key with the debug window open will show a list of commands, and pressing tab again after typing chosen command will show parameters available for the command in the debug window.

Most artifacts are randomly generated through complex scripts and cannot be spawned with the console. However historical artifacts can be created that way. To spawn an artifact copy one of the following lines in the console. The game will crash without the OWNER = this scope.

All traits have a tag that is referenced internally by the game. They can be found in game\common\traits\00_traits.txt. A trait's tag typically matches its name. To get a trait's tag from its name, perform the following steps:

All titles have an internal title tag that can be found in game\common\landed_titles\00_landed_titles.txt. Title tags have a prefix based on their rank, followed by an underscore (_) and then their name.

The title ID may not match the title's name in-game. For example, the player may have their game set to a language other than English or a title has a culture-specific name. Use the following steps to find a title ID purely on its in-game name:

Game Mode commands do not work on PlayStation 4. However, special game mode commands will work with a connected keyboard. All other Console commands are exclusive to the Steam copy of the game and are not available on the PlayStation 4. Console Commands can NOT be done in VR.

To activate the use of console commands, you need to type developermodeon in the main title screen to activate the developer console. There is no notification that the mode has been activated. Though, you can press F1 to see if it is working.

These commands change the difficulty and game modes.

If you wish to change a creative game into a normal one you will need to type in setgamemode standard, then you will need to select a difficulty.

These commands are related to enemies, which include cannibals and mutants. spawnenemy and spawnmutant usually do the same thing, however sometimes one won't work, whereas the other will. Try both if it isn't working. Keep in mind, if you are in creative mode or peaceful, you will need to change the game mode as well as the difficulty to be able to spawn enemies.

For adding, spawning and removing individual items. Here are some examples:

additem 142 - This will add an Old Pot to your inventory

spawnitem 230 - This will spawn the Flintlock Pistol in front of you

removeitem 279 - This will remove the Modern Bow from your inventory, if you have multiple amounts it will remove them all

Important notes:

These commands will build whatever building you wish instantly, including buildings that have been removed from the game or gardens that can grow mushrooms out of caves etc. The number next to them indicates how many are built, Explosive Wire Traps are fun for this.

These commands toggle objects/meshes/layers on/off, they are quite complicated. The following is a select few of objects, there are 1000s in the game. Using these commands will disable the objects. For example, togglego char_arms_GEO1 will turn off the players arms. If you type the command in again, the arms will return. To obtain names of objects, use the diagrenderers command. It will save a file to your forest folder in steam that will contain the objects loaded around you:

These commands are quite advanced and are not recommended if you are new to console commands

Needs confirmation.

These behave differently depending on whether a game was already loaded and assets are already available. When loading from the main menu, most views will only show the rock cave from the main menu background (trying to load a saved game with loadlevel 2 will partly load a new game (plane sequence), but the camera will only continue to show the "menu cave").

When loading from within a level / while playing, most things seem to load closer to what was probably intended.

The following list is therefore referring to loading from within a loaded game.

It is also possible to get the achievement Survive The Forest by loading into the post-game sequence.

Note that for some of these levels to load, assets may need to be loaded prior. For example, unlocking the end game door with the keycard to be able to access the rest of the end game area.

To activate cheat commands, type devcommands and press enter. To deactivate cheat commands, type devcommands and press enter again. The cheat commands are available in singleplayer mode only. They do not work on a multiplayer server.

The debug mode can be entered to access more cheats such as toggle fly or building without a workbench or resources. It can be entered by typing and executing the command debugmode in the console. Executing it again will exit the debug mode.

Additionally, I was unable to use AttributeScore on my player character later in the game (but I did it just fine in the camp after game launch), or on hired Adventurer's. There was no issue in using it on Aloth, for example, multiple times, however.

Yes, this is quite annoying, I even tried to go back to the first save before I used the codes. But they still didn't work. Seems like if you gotta cheat you gotta do it way big so you don't have to use the codes again. Is this the case with traits as well?

Also, does anyone know what to use when trying to do attributescore name stat # on player made companions? I know you need to use "player" for the MC, but can't figure out how to boost the custom companions. =/

So I had a glitch where the game gave me a *NAME ERROR* character, no picture or anything, stuck inside the terrain. I used the console to manage my party and dismiss them, letting me continue the game.
