Iuninstalled version 8 choosing the option to retain the database (just in case!). I renamed that database folder eM Client 8. I switched off my internet connection. I then installed version 7. I renamed that database folder eM Client 7. I opened my disk image and found the database folder from the day before the upgrade to 8. I copied that folder over to my current location for the database and that was it. When I switched the internet connection back on the emails updated and I am happily back on version 7.

I just used this, and now working fine. Was getting both IMAP and SMTP problems with 8. Worked for a while when I disabled my AV, but not comfortable with that. Would be interested to see the system and user test output for V8. Not sure why anyone would release a version with so many apparent potholes.

Mailbird is a desktop email client for Microsoft Windows, compatible with Windows 10 and Windows 11.[2] As well as sending and receiving emails, Mailbird includes managing calendar events and contacts from different email providers, social media, task management, file share, and video-conferencing integrations. Mailbird is offered via paid subscription, but also includes a free version.[3]

The first version of the Mailbird email software was created in January 2012 by Danish co-founders and serial entrepreneurs Michael Olsen and Michael Bodekaer,[4]inspired by the lightweight Sparrow email client for OS X[5]as an alternative to other existing email clients. Aside from the basic email features, the soft beta version included such features as the in-line reply, in-line attachment, a contact app, contacts search, PDF preview, keyboard shortcuts, quick reply, delete forever, etc.

In January 2013, Mailbird opened its beta to the public on an invite-only basis.[6]The release included features, such as nested folder structure, message download, English spell check, and Lifehacker and TechCrunch integrations. Connecting additional email accounts also became possible along with the ability to set a default identity.

On January 27, 2014, Mailbird 1.0 was released to the public. This version had IMAP support, keyboard navigation, and multiple account support feature. Additionally, a Speed Reader, Contact Manager, POP support, and more languages for spell check were added.

On March 17, 2015, Mailbird 2.0 was released with new features, such as Email Snooze, Video Meetings, and Unified Inbox Plus. Further integrations were added for Facebook, WhatsApp, Twitter, Veeting Rooms, Asana, and more.[8]

In 2022, Mexican Spanish was added as an additional supported language, and in 2023 ChatGPT was introduced as the latest available integration for any users who wish to leverage its technology directly from inside Mailbird.[10]

On October 30th 2023, Mailbird 3.0 was released. It contained a wide range of new features and designs, along with a vast array of improvements to the overall user experience.[11] Some examples of new features include Block Sender and Email Templates.

In early 2024, an integration for Sapling was added to Mailbird, allowing users to benefit from its writing assistant to improve grammar and spelling while using Mailbird.[12] In July 2024, and Outlook Calendar app was also introduced, which works with both Hotmail and Outlook email accounts, as well as third party Exchange providers which support Outlook (such as GoDaddy's Exchange support).[13]

Mailbird has a built-in browser that opens web applications inside its interface.[16] The add-ons are organized inside a store-like section, in which the apps are installed by simply marking a checkbox.

Step 2: Select Mailbird Files

Some of the email server is not working well with this software. I tried to adding my Yandex email account, but the software keep showing error and can not complete the process. All other email server work perfectly with this software, but not Yandex Mail.

Mailbird gives me what other desktop email programs didn't, a chance to stay on top of my emails. It's fast and with the unified mailbox, emails don't get lost in the shuffle. When my team first switched, we were able to import all the email settings from the other mail program we were using. Setup was instant!

The best thing about this software is the unified inbox. I have twelve email addresses, and when using other similar desktop email software, I would have to click on each email address to view the inbox of each. With this, it combines all the new email together, which helps to keep on top of all my emails.

In conclusion, although I appreciate the improvements in Mailbird 3, the unanticipated additional cost has left me feeling disappointed and disillusioned with the brand. I hope Mailbird addresses this issue and considers its loyal customers who invested in the previous lifetime deal.

As a user of Mailbird 2, I was genuinely excited when I purchased the lifetime deal. The promise of a one-time payment for continuous access to their excellent app was a deal I couldn't pass up. Mailbird 2 has been my reliable companion, streamlining my email management with its intuitive interface and robust features.

However, my enthusiasm has been dampened by the latest development. The introduction of Mailbird 3, undeniably a more advanced and promising version, has come with an unexpected twist. The lifetime deal that I had happily invested in for Mailbird 2 no longer applies to this new upgrade.

Having to pay again for Mailbird 3 feels like a betrayal of the trust I put in the "lifetime" deal for Mailbird 2. The term "lifetime" implies a long-term commitment, which I assumed would include subsequent versions of the software. However, it appears this is not the case.

While I understand that the development and maintenance of new software require resources and hence, costs, it's disappointing to face another payment request after purchasing what was marketed as a lifetime deal.

The ability to consolidate all of my email addresses AND calendars in a single email client with both, powerful integrations AND the ability to make it barebones enough so that it can be a tool for focusing is fabulous.

I honestly cannot think of anything bad to say about it for disciplined people. If you're not disciplined, you might have some problems because you can integrate basically any messaging platform with the client and that could end up causing an unlimited amount of distractions.

I love the unified account that allows me to view an inbox for all of my email accounts. The emails are then color coded so I know who it's being sent to. My other favorite feature is being able to click an email and have all emails from the same sender provided immediately in list format. This allows me to quickly empty my emails and overcome inbox overwhelm =)

There are no cons on this software that I have found personally. If I could request one feature, it would be to match the categorization of emails like you see in Gmail. At least provide the option to have your categories match how Gmail sorts them and/or provide a filtering option to either view or not view those emails in those categories such as newsletters, financial, etc.

Mailbird is a relatively young app, and there are a few spots where I see room for improvement. The Search algorithms are a bit loose with results, and I wish that multi-gesture touchpad support was enabled - not just touchscreen. But overall, Mailbird has the performance and polish of a well-established product. CEO Andrea Loubier mentioned that a universal Contact Manager, additional app support, and possibly mobile and Mac versions are all part of the Mailbird road map.
