Is it possible to use RemoteApp Tool to create connections to other servers?

I'm trying to avoid installing the tool on a server for security reasons. I'd use regular RemoteApp but this is a workgroup server and this tool is almost perfect for the job.

Is it possible, say, from my laptop, to create a connection to an executable, and edit the Properties of the RemoteApp to point to a file path on a remote server, edit the client connection properties to point to the server's IP address, and have that work? I tried it, and first got an alert that it wasn't on the list of allowed RemoteApp applications. There's a registry hack for that, so I did that. Then I got "Couldn't Open this program or file. Either there was a problem with [application] or the file you're trying to open couldn't be accessed."
