I brought a demo setup to the 2016 TTOS National Convention in Long Beach in
early August.

I had RTC running along with three engines. Over the two days, I had about 12
people in the audience.

Photo of setup shows the simple track plan. Three switches and one accessory
were under control of an AIU.

awesome -- what did folks have to say about -- what was the feedback?

Hi Mark...

This looks neat.  I wish at times we weren't on opposite coasts.

Did any of your audience come up afterwards and become comfortable with use of RTC?

Do you hang out with any of the San Diego group in Balboa Park?  It's been ten years since I was there, but I recall a very large O-scale operation.  I would think RTC would be very welcome there.

Is Mike Hewett still on-line?  I wrote to him a few days ago inquiring about his health and I've received no answer.

Best,
Paul Reynolds

Someone could take it to York.  Note that I'm volunteering other people for this task! :-)

Kevin,

Actually, I will be at York this October. I'll have my computer and radios
but I don't have any plans to do any demonstrations.

Of course, I could walk around the halls with a battery powered Arduino/radio
causing mischief....

I like it! I  have wondered what MTH would think of it.  Then again you still need a TIU...  I don't see how they'd complain, it's not like their rail protocol is being cracked.

To me the big deal is not the spoofing into the TUI -- which is great -- but its the lesser considered perhaps "remote engine" getup that with a little creative thinking and elbow grease could make "anything" appear on the remote (or the computer RTC)... that to me is even the bigger deal!

I would like you to ask MTH this question -- can they document the clip section of the protosound file?   If not, why?  Come on guys!!!  It won't hurt.  We know most of it after all anyway.  That's my question.

York Penn. is pretty nearby here.  I've never been or heard of it till last year.  I don't really have a reason to go per se.  Then again...

I suppose if I could find a Lionel Legacy control system for less than 299$ which I saw at "Trains and Stuff" (really M.B. Klein) recently ... that might be of interest.

Likewise if I haven't made my own DCC++ DCC control system by then perhaps a NEC Pro Cab get up if it were, in the "free ish" realm of pricing would be of interest...

One thing I don't need is more fastrack.  Alternatively to that: If I could magically replace my cheapo black Bachmann HO track with something better like Kato, that'd also be of interest.

Maybe a couple of DCC sound decoders, very small ones.  Some LEDs maybe.  I finally saw on the web where folks had taken the Bachmann Thomas engines and retrofitted a DCC decoder into them.

I would like to do that also... another project on the list!

Mark;
I registered as a guest for this October's TCA meet in York.
I live nearby (about 30 miles) in Mechanicsburg, PA.
If you want to meet up at the show, I'll have my cell phone with me
(717-697-8747).
I'm hoping to find someone there to talk about the control of trains via
Java (JMRI).
I haven't done much lately, but I still have a desire to figure out what's
needed to provide the basics of control (MTH DCS) for the JMRI project.

If you are interested, you could have a meal with us at our home.
We have a young man from Tanzania staying with us who attends Harrisburg
Area Community College.
You would probably find meeting him to be quite interesting.

By the way; do you need any assistance when you arrive (airport pickup,
directions, etc.)?
Also, will it be only you or will your wife accompany you?
