Hello guys i am back again with another noob thread. In this noob tutorial I am going to show you how to boot Remix OS on your Hard Disk without data limit or Your Choice of Data Size !!

So Shall we begin??

1.) First take note of the specific button for a) Setup (F2 for me) b) Boot option (F12 for me)

2.) Go to your setup and disable secure boot, disable load legacy option rom and select boot list option to UEFI

3.) Now download Remix OS EFI zip.

4.) Burn the img file from zip onto USB Drive with help of Software included in zip.

5.) Now download this application  http://forum.xda-developers.com/Android/software/winapp-Android-x86-installer-uefi-t3222483.

b.)Also download this Android x86 ISO to have the program downloaded above create appropriate folders
http://sourceforge.net/projects/android-x86/files/Release%205.1/android-x86-5.1-rc1.iso/download

6.) Also download this file: grub.cfg  https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B4svTXsdunbAd2FJTGtMeG4zYkU/view?usp=docslist_api

Imp- Just look for it where it is downloaded .Normally (If used Chrome) should have been downloaded in C:\Users\(PC Username)\Downloads . This file will be used later

7.) Start the program downloaded in fifth step and locate the Android x86 ISO downloaded in 5 b.)

8.) Now select the drive you want to install. It can be C/D/E which is already there or you can create a separate partition for it (No need to format it in FAT 32).

9.) Select the size of the internal memory (Remix OS data size) .Then press install

10.)  After the installation is completed go to Android OS folder which you can locate in the drive where you installed Android x86 ISO downloaded in step 5 b.)

11.) Now Open the Android OS folder and delete the file system.sfs .

12.) Now copy these files from the USB drive on which you burned REMIX OS img file Folder

          a.) initrd.img
          b.) kernel
          c.) ramdisk.img
          d.) system.img

       To the Android OS folder.
.
13.) Now open cmd as an administrator and type the following command (You can Copy Paste the commands if you like)

a.) mountvol B: /s

b.) B:

c.) cd efi\Android

d.) copy C:\Users\(PC Username)\Downloads\grub.cfg grub.cfg

Now after d.) a prompt will ask you Yes or No then Type Yes.

14.) Now restart your PC and press button for boot option. There you will see an entry with something like Android OS. Select it.

15.) Then Select Android

16.) Then select Resident Mode .And follow the prompts that appear and then you will be able to successfully boot Remix OS with your choice of Data Size

Full credits (whatsoever) goes to parkerlreed a Reddit user . I just simplified the process

how would this work if you wanna leave the OS on the thumb drive?

Didn't tried it on USB drive but what you can do is
1.First flash EFI zip onto your USB drive (FAT 32 formatted) then copy initrd.img,kernel,Ramdisk.img,system.img from USB drive to somwhere safe in your hard drive.
2.Now format your USB drive into NTFS and then follow the above procedure but instead of chosing hard disk drive chose your thumb drive in application.

Ok try this then report me back.

Before I begin to do anything,

should I disable secure boot and UEFI by putting it into Legacy mode ?

doing before would be good as after completion you can straight load Remix OS.

PS-Do not enable Legacy boot let it be UEFI boot and secure boot disabled and load legacy option rom disabled,

Pls guys follow the guide or else the OS won't boot .Then don't blame me for anything .

No I want you to download EFI zip. And disable secure boot and load legacy option. And set boot mode to UEFI.
Are you not following the guide or video??

I only have legacy mode to boot as I'm using a pretty old netbook. If I use the method for getting rid of the data limit on the flash drive am I still unable to use this method? If so could you do a legacy method? Your instructions are pretty easy to follow.

Don't know but you can try it for yourself as I do not have a legacy device to help you.
Everything is same it's just that the program through which we increase the data partition is for UEFI only.
So you can try it for yourself and see if it works.

I entered the last command and it did not give me a choice to overwrite grub.cfg.

I had a screen pop up and ask if I wanted to look for an APP to open it.

Is there going to be a problem now ?

Should I restart the computer anyway ?

It's because you didn't enter the whole command

copy C:\Users\(PC Username)\Downloads\grub.cfg grub.cfg

You have to start with the "copy"

Or do I need to re-enter all the commands ?

I made a major mistake. I did this whole process and when I re-started, I went into Boot Option's and found I was in Legacy Mode NOT EFI Mode !

How do I correct this ?

I am in EF Mode now.

Do I need to delete everything in the partition or just re-enter the four command's at the end ?

Please disreard my last post about the Major Mistake.

I had to do a repair of the windows bootloader file.

Now the dual boot work's great.

Still need to get sound to work and install Google store / Service's.

Now I am dual booting windows 10 and Remix OS on a Lenovo Ideapad Z710 laptop.

It is important that the console commands at the end are done from an elevated command prompt. You need to make sure to start the cmd by right-clicking and selecting "Run as administrator". Try that and Android OS should show up in the boot menu.

Hi everyone,

I am very confused...Could somebody just post a couple of data images at say 8, 16, 32, 64 GB and wouldn't that make life easier for everyone?! Especially noobs or lazy people, or even people with very little space on their hard drive so they cannot download all those files. Anyway...

Many Thanks,
