I have Remix 2.0 (32bit/Win7) installing ok and when I do a clean install and setup ethernet it works great, for a while.

Not sure if it is todo with the OTA update, but I have repeatedly had problems with the Ethernet settings (which require me to manually enter details, Auto connect doesn't seem to work) stopping working.

When I make any changes to the ethernet settings it doesn't seem to make any difference, very frustrating as everything else works great.

Unfortunately no WiFi on the unit I have this running on as I imagine that would not have the same issues, any advice on what I can try?

Does your ethernet work on Win7 and too use auto configure the details ?

What's the detail problem of your ethernet on Remix OS ?
If manual configure OK but auto configure NG, then maybe your DHCP server has some restrictions of IP address lease request.

Yes the ethernet works fine on Win7 with DHCP, I've been copying the details from there to use the manual settings in Remix.

The detail of the problem is

- Ethernet works using a manual setup on first install, through the initial set up wizard (does not work with auto configure) and connects
- Ethernet stops working after reboot (Resident mode)
- Any attempts to use manual mode (switching back and forth, turning off/on ethernet, removing cable etc) do not seem to work.
- Details pesist in the manual mode form, but details in the settings view show empty IP addresses.

So this works now the specific IP has been locked to that mac address on the router.

Still no autoconfigure though.

Same here... using Realtek RTL8111E (r8169). Even after manually inputting IP, subnet mask, gateway, the system still shows 0.0.0.0 for IP and gateway, and 255.255.255.255 subnet mask.

Back then with the latest Android-x86 6.0-20160129 I was able to make it work by reloading r8169 after booting the system:
# rmmod r8169
# modprobe r8169

And it worked from there, but I was not able to do so with Remix OS 2.0 Beta as I don't know how to enable root there. It should be able to fix it as a temporary solution if the cause were the same.

Before doing so (on Android-x86 6.0-20160129), ifconfig did not show the connected ethernet interface, and route showed nothing. Manually adding them would enable ping to other sites, but DNS queries still fail. Only by reloading r8169 would get it properly configured. Besides, dmesg showed nothing unusual regarding r8169 yet it did not get configured properly during boot phase.

By the way, are there guides to add r8168 (Realtek's own Linux driver) manually into the kernel to see if this would make a difference on Remix OS or Android-x86?

EDIT: To me the ethernet issue existed since the alpha builds (as early as January 12).
