Yay! I was able to install and boot into Remix OS 2.0 for PC Beta from USB on both my desktop (64-Bit Version) and my laptop (32-Bit Legacy Version). I want to install Remix OS on my laptop's hard drive but I have CloudReady by Neverware running on this laptop instead of Windows 7, so the Remix installation tool won't work. Is there any way for me to install Remix locally so I don't have to run it from a USB? Also, I don't know why, but I can't access system recovery on my laptop now after installing CloudReady so I can't recover from a system image. Maybe I can recover from a system image some other way... I'm not sure. Thanks!

I'm in the same situation, installed CloudReady but I want to override it with Remix OS. The installer requires it to install via windows and I cannot even make a bootable USB installer. It just launches the OS.

I am not sure about this, but try using the Chrome recovery tool you used to create for cloudready and check if you can install it?

Sadly will not work. Can only use .bin files in that utility.

Someone from Neverware suggested that I install Windows through a bootable USB then work from there.

1) Boot from USB as normal.
2) During Resident/Guest mode selection, press 'TAB'.
3) Add "INSTALL=1" to the end of the command. Press 'ENTER'
4) Follow on-screen installation steps to perform full install onto local HDD/SSD.

5) You may need to perform the IMGTools hack to enlarge your data.img storage size, because it caps out at 4GB, even if you installed onto a large HDD. I enlarged mine to 256GB (274877906944 bytes) with no issues.

I was able to install Remix unto a new partition after I deleted Chrome OS, but it doesn't seem to be able to boot into it when I remove the USB. Is there maybe a step I missed or something specific I didn't do?

EDIT:

You may also need to edit the command line further. You need to remove the line "USB_DATA_PARTITION=1", and replace it with "CREATE_DATA_IMG=1", plus the "INSTALL=1" after.

EDIT AGAIN:

During the install setup, if you are running in Legacy, click "YES" for the GRUB, and click "SKIP" for GRUB2. Vise-versa for running in UEFI. If you have a Windows partition, click "YES, if not, click "SKIP". Then click "YES" for everything els.e
