So, here's the story...

I was very excited to try this.
Went home, downloaded the package, formatted the flashdrive in FAT32 (using external tool since Windows 8 won't let me format it in Fat32 due to size > 32 GB), ran the burning tool and installed the OS. Then restarted the machine, went to BIOS, changed the booting priority and did an boot override to select Sandisk (which was listed in bios ofcourse) but nothing. The flashdrive won't boot at all.

I tried it like 4-5 times but no matter what I did, the flashdrive won't boot! Here's my system configuration:-

ASUS G751JL 17-Inch Gaming Laptop

  • Intel Core i7-4720HQ 2.6 GHz Processor
  • 16 GB DDR3 RAM
  • 500 GB Samsung SSD + 1TB HDD (7200 RPM)
  • Windows 8.1 (pre-installed)
  • NVIDIA GTX965M 2GB GDDR5

Unfortunately I do not have any other flashdrive at the moment, so any other suggestions to play with ?  Could it be because of using 64 Gigs thumb drive ?

I've just bought the same drive today to put Remix OS on and it does not work!

It shows in my boot options, but just boots to Windows when you select the drive....

Not booting ?
  • NVIDIA GTX965M 2GB GDDR5 !?
  • Some GFX cards may not work yet ... unless you modify some (default) boot settings (read this here somewhere).
May have nothing to do with your USB stick.

i used a really slow 2.0 and works on an old laptop... on another doesn't work... they don't support all the hardware, it's not a problem of usb

But it should atleast start booting right ? I mean, it just starts windows. I would have understood if I had seen Remix boot logo or something and then error comes. The hardware reading part won't even start unless the system tries to boot through USB.  I suspect its due to the flash drive. I'll borrow another USB from a friend and try this. I'll post the result here!

Same issue with a Dell Latitude e7240 laptop and Sandisk USB 3.0 64GB drive. After using the USB utility to mount the ISO to the USB, when I attempt to boot from it, my laptop just says "Invalid partition table!". This is using Legacy boot (not UEFI)

Guys, try using the latest version of Rufus, reformatting the USB drive to FAT32, and using the DD option to write the image to the flash drive, not the ISO option.

That's what worked for me.

I was wondering about the DD option vs ISO. I am using a usb 3.0 32gb drive
Would you mind giving us a little more info?

Did you use legacy boot or uefi image file from Jibe?

What were the exact settings for rufus please.

I kept getting the error missing device /system.sfs or something like that.

Then it would ask guest or resident and id just try guest and hit enter and had a blank screen....

Im using same flash drive. And remix os is working. Try this.

1. Burn another linux os using rufus.
2. And delete os files in flash drive.
3. Open the remix os tool burn os.

Its sounds like very stupid things. But maybe it will be work.
