Hello guys,

to use the Remix OS with an UEFI system use the BIOS or UEFI installer from Luke! (https://groups.google.com/forum/#!topic/android-x86/0TXRhMi2wu0)

I've uploaded it here: http://1drv.ms/1SiM013

Just flash the normale Remix Os .iso file to your usb drive. I use Rufus to do that.
Then delete the folder "efi" from the usb drive and copy the "efi" and "boot" folders you have downloaded to it.

After that you can boot from your usb drive. (turn secure boot off)

Greetings, Eric!

Hey, thanks for sharing.
Actually, I wasn't able to even get to the first screen, as my notebook would be stuck at this specific screen (here) - still no luck.
BUT, with your help, I was able to see the first screen and choose between Guest Mode or Resident Mode.
HOWEVER, as soon as I hit my choice - tried with both -, the only thing I can get is a black screen with an "_" in the top left corner of the screen.

Any help??

Just wanted to add that I could not boot from an install done with the Remix USB installer but using Rufus to install the iso everything worked just fine.

(on a Lenovo UEFI laptop)

No matter.

THANKS!! Actually, with Rufus, I was able to get the RemixES screen but got stuck there.
I mean, in Guest Mode I could pass it but then all I would see would be a black screen with only the cursor of my trackpad and nothing more. Resident mode just got stuck in the RemixOS loop.

Hello,

I use now the efi img from Jide!

Just use their instructions ;)

But they forgot to change the grub entries.

Instead of "system.sfs" change it to "system.img".

I have tried the efi version on my surface 3 now I can boot but u still have disable secure boot. But after choosing my install mode I get an error about system.sfs and get a black screen. I guess I will try to change to system.img

I got a little further after changing to system.img. but then it still stalled at the 'ANDROID' part.
Cant get either images or any of the modes to boot on Surface 3.

It wasn't too hard to install. I did and used the following:
  1. Disable secure boot. (turn off SP3, hold volume up + power, then check off secure boot)
  2. Go back into Windows, and go to Disk Management.
    1. Right click primary C: drive and shrink drive.
    2. Decide how much space you want to have in Android.
    3. Shrink.
  3. With the empty partition, right click and create new partition.
    1. Name it whatever you want.
    2. NTFS.
    3. Default Allocation.
    4. Start.
  4. Now get the following files:
    1. Remix OS for PC Package (EFI) - from Jide
    2. Android-x86 Installer UEFI Version
  5. Open the Android x86 installer.
    1. Find the location of the image you downloaded from Jide.
    2. Select the new partition we made in step 3. DON'T SCREW UP.
    3. Allocate "all" the space for data. This is how much room you are going to have in Android!
    4. Start!
  6. Once finished. Open the start menu > type: "change advanced startup options".
    1. press restart now under "advanced startup"
  7. Computer will reboot, select device: Android-OS.
  8. Done.
Now the problem I have is, I have to go through this step every time to go into Android. I tried messing with the GRUB and EasyBCD but ended up bootlooping myself with just Android. Any help there will be nice!

You'll need a windows recovery USB or disc to boot from to recover/edit the BCD entry back to normal.  It's not harming any files at the moment, so that's a plus, just need to give it a push in the right direction.  Should be able to create a recovery USB from any working Windows7+ computer

Sorry - yes. That is right in that circumstance. My current problem is - I can't get it to ask me which OS to boot. (Dual boot menu)

Here's how to boot from USB until we find a permanent solution for dual booting from internal storage: https://groups.google.com/forum/#!topic/remix-os-for-pc/Rzo7rDxTfVw

Thank you for this guide. Since you helped me out I'll do the same. To get it to boot on start up use grub2win.
once grub is installed set up manage your efi partions.
Then change your boot order to boot remix os not grub.
this will work you don't need to add a new entry.
