"Community Celebration of Meg Perry's Life"

On December 10th the greater Portland community lost a friend,
advocate, activist, daughter and playmate for young and old with the
death of Meg Perry. Meg was known all over town as a woman with a warm
smile, firm hug and as an organizer with the People's Free Space.
She was working with a group of volunteers doing hurricane relief work
in the Gulf Coast when her life was cut short in an accident with the
Frida Bus. To remember Meg and help share her warmth and spirit, the
People's Free Space will be holding a Celebration of Meg's Life
January 14th at the North Deering Grange Hall, 1408 Washington Avenue,
from 4pm until late.

This celebration of Meg's life will bring together many of the things
that she loved and loved to share. The public is invited to come eat,
dance, play, cry, stretch and share memories of Meg with each other.
There will be ongoing childcare provided so please bring Meg's young
friends!

4:00 - 5:00 Free Yoga Session (child friendly! bring a towel and some
water.)
5:00 - 6:30 Community Potluck Feast (Please bring food to share if
you can)
- Open Mic (Come share you memories of Meg in words,
poetry, dance,
stories and song!)
- late Music (Featuring two bands Meg loved, Esperanza, The Stick
and Rag
Village Orchestra and others)

Other activities will include an ongoing art and crafts area, hair
braiding, massage, fire dancing and a slide show of pictures of Meg's
life.

"Meg's life was a celebration of love, compassion and joyous play.
She devoted herself to a struggle for equality, justice and constant
playtime. One way to truly remember Meg's life is to fight for
positive change in your community and have a lot of fun doing it." -
Alec Aman, friend and People's Free Space organizer

There will be a car pool from The People's Free Space located at 144
Cumberland Ave. leaving at 3:45, 4:30 and 6:00. For those interested
in helping with the event or more information please call the
People's Free Space at 822-9869 or email us at
