The Developer Tools Menu provides a number of options that provide real-time metrics and other information about your app. This information can assist you in troubleshooting, development, and testing.
This Only Affects the Firestick lite at this time. And the way to fixed it is to Go to Firestick Settings on your Firestick lite and Press on My Fire TV and About/Firestick lite. And Press it 7 Times. And will come up with something like You Are A Developer. Then Back Out and you will see Developer options Press on it and and just check if ADB Debugging is on And Apps from unknown sources is on and Or check that your list ilof unknown sources are on witch you have to do on some Firestick Devices.
Now that Amazon is removing Developer Options, there is a new method to allow apps from unknown sources. Click My Fire TV, click About, then click Fire TV Stick seven times until you become a developer.
Troy, Thank you for keeping us all up to date on this. I was reworking an older 4K firestick and had to restore it to factory settings then perform multiple updates on it before I was ready to program it for my step son. After the updates the developer options was gone! Since I had read about this I logged onto your site and looked up the fix. As advertised the 7 clicks did the trick and I installed the programs I wanted to. Thanks again for staying up with this stuff.
I am running OS 7.2.8.5 and still have developer options.
Is there instructions to stop Amazon updates in this version or do I need to?
If at some point I lose my developer options will I lose the addons I already have?

I moved on to android boxes years ago which are far better than any Amazon device but still keep a firestick as as backup, recently came in handy to watch ny yankee games broadcast on Amazon as it brings in a superior feed.

For the Developer options menu to appear in Settings, you first have to go to About, and there tap 'Build Number' seven times, then go back into the main Settings menu. You must do that in the main / admin user profile (additional user / child profiles do not enable Developer options in Android). Thanks!
