Burmese junta welcomes Thai medical team

May 15, 2008: (Bangkok Post) - The Burmese military junta has welcomed
a Thai medical team from Thailand to be sent by His Royal Highness
Crown Prince Maha Vajiralongkorn, according to Public Health Minister
Chaiya Sasomsab.

The team consists of 30 doctors, who will help treat the Burmese
victims who are affected by Cyclone Nargis. Psychiatrists are also
part of the team.

They will leave Thailand on Friday, and will be on duty for two
weeks.

On Tuesday, His Majesty the King urged Thai people to help Cyclone
Nargis victims. The cabinet also approved a grant of $500,000 (16
million baht) for Burma.

According to World Health Organisation, 31,938 people were killed,
1,403 injured and 29,770 were missing since the cyclone hit Burma on
May 2.
