Hey Guys,

Help me out here. I purchased a real nice Miyano CNC vertical machining
center for my home shop, from Reliable Tool at Irwindale, CA. It was
previously used by Heinz Mfg Co., nearby at Covina and Reliable picked it up
when Heinz closed via an 'American Auctioneers Group' auction May 31.

A friend purchased a Shizouka CNC mill at the same time and I arranged for
shipping both machines via container to New Zealand.

Sadly, Reliable Tool made no attempt to block up the Shizouka mill within
the container, and it tipped over and fell into the face of the Miyano with
much damage resulting. We paid Reliable $450 additionally to secure the
machines to wide stable skids - but this was not provided. Insurers and
shippers will not cover 'insufficient packing'.

The Miyano was also sent out missing its blue painted coolant pump and
tank - which is a unit mounted on castors. Reliable Tool pictured the
complete machine on eBay (130123197864) while it was still at Heinz. One
possibility is that this unit may have gone inadvertently with one of the
several Miyano lathes ex Heinz - but more likely that Reliable have sent it
to the wrong person - as happens with that outfit.

This was one of the very few sales where Reliable Tool offered, "We are so
confident in this unit that we are offering a full return freight paid money
back guarantee on this if not completely satisfied!!!"

yeah, right. Their publicised guarantee has been dishonored and no attempt
has been made to make good. The short delivery remains unanswered (as does
my receipt of someone else's item - a granite surface plate). As this
occurred beyond the time frame for normal eBay intervention, mediation via
Square Trade was sought. Reliable Tool continued to ignore all
communications about this matter until prompted by the mediator - and then
they ignored the mediator.

Take a look at the photos at www.briancad.itgo.com and let me know what you
think/advise/other actions.

Suggestions for best repair of the crunched Fanuc OM controller also
appreciated (might be cheapest to fly to US with controller as baggage for
repair). Are these units little more than a CRT plus a bunch of switches?

Thanks,
Brian McKenzie

Cliff,

Brilliant, thanks. Yes, this is the company - and I'll certainly file a
complaint. Also to Irwindale Chamber of Commerce and to Federal Trade
Commission.

quote ex Better Business Bureau:
"Our complaint history for this company shows that the company responded to
and gave proper consideration to most complaints. However, some complaints
are unresolved meaning the company failed to properly address the complaint
allegations or their response was inadequate".

Thanks,

Brian McKenzie
