I have two 50" TCL Ruku Tvs. One purchased in 2021 and one in 2022. Netflix doesn't work on either one. Its shuts down or freezes. No issues on my Samsung with a Ruku plug-in. No issues with any other app on all 3 Tv's. I've deleted the app, reinstalled, reset ect.......... My guess is its a TCL issue. Just documenting this. TCL TVs are cheap, but I would avoid.

We appreciate you letting us know about the issue you are experiencing when streaming Netflix. Have you tried contacting TCL or Netflix? If the issue persists on one channel after attempting the troubleshooting steps and videos from other channels play fine, please contact the channel provider's customer support team to report the issue and get help. The channel developers themselves maintain channels on Roku. There might be an issue within that specific channel that needs to be addressed with an update from them. You can check here for the TV support contact list and channel contact list.
Please let us know if there is anything else we can do to help you.
All the best,
Eunice

I just tested this stupid tracker ID thing and the app just kicks me to the Home Screen at this point and no tracker ID shows up. I know for a fact you have a lot of customers complaining about this and if your problems is not being able to get the tracker ID that will continue to be a problem. Might I suggest that Roku simply get one of these and test it on their own not leaving half the work to the community? I crashed it again while talking and still no tracker ID.

We wanted to let you know that we are continuing to investigate your reported issue and hope to provide you with a more detailed update when additional information is available. Thanks for your continued patience.Do not hesitate to let us know if you have any additional feedback.

I just read this thread. I also have been having the same problems with Netflix. This is a new TCL Roku TV and ONLY Netflix is giving me issues. All the other streaming apps work fine. I have also followed all the steps that are all over you tube and here as well from unplugging, to reinstalling we etc etc and nothing.

The first movie I tried to play after updating to 1.08.17 in Netflix was Open Season 3. The movie has some crazy ghosting/pixelation going on. You only have to play the first minute or two and please let me know if you get the same. Other movies I have tried so far play fine. If anyone could report back and let me know how it plays for you on the SMP I would be most appreciative.

EDIT: Just tested this movie in Netflix on a Boxee Box and it plays fine.
EDIT2: My box is wired and I have a 15 megabit connection to the internet
EDIT3: Other movies effected are The Secret of Kells and Open Season 2

Well I found a fix BUT not the kind of fix I wanted. I logged into netflix.com and went to my account /manage video quality and changed it from BEST QUALITY to BETTER QUALITY and the issue is gone. Any thoughts???

After 2 calls to netflix my issue still persists. They are looking into the issue and told me I should receive and email in 24-48 hours. Here is a bandwidth chart from the same movie streamed from Netflix on a Boxee Box using the same ethernet cable. As you can see there is quite a difference in the average transmission rate.

It appears that the Boxee Box is limited to a 720p stream from Netflix while the Live SMP can pull a full 1080p stream. This is why Boxee can stream these movies no problem while Live SMP has issues. There is an issue somewhere with the 1080p encodes or the way the Live SMP handles the stream.

Yes it looks like a problem of codecs if you use firefox, (in google chrome it is not a problem becouse it come with its own privative codecs) but in anyway you can install the codecs if you didnt install them before and you are using firefox in netflix, -US/quick-docs/assembly_installing-plugins-for-playing-movies-and-music/

If it does work only with to enable DRM so perfect. Remeber that if you have problems with others videos with firefox it can be a problem of codecs, in case you can install them like commented before. Cool you have your netflix working!.

Of course, this is an extreme simplification however it starts painting a picture of what could have happened if say you tried to use this system in front changing an extremely large number of sessions from one datastore (a holding screen) to another (a live broadcast) at the same time.

If you had an issue like that, the new sessions would throttled as the internal service tried to recover, in fact as this is going on until the service recovers, internal retries would be disabled. This would lead to people either being stuck in a loading screen or bounced back to the holding screen if Zuul was trying to move the datastore in a canary release. People would get frustrated, start a new session, sending even more requests to be throttled or denied. Because while Zuul is built to handle millions of sessions for thousands of different assets, it is not built to deal with millions of requests to a single asset at the same time if there is an error with the asset. The issue could cause a cascading event. This is just an educated guess at what could have happened however these are the kind of issues you can see when deploying a new application like #netflixlive in the wild.

But Tom, how do you test this? Well Netflix did with a smaller event, however they may not have had a simplified alternative if something went wrong. Or if they did, however, they were always just a little bit away from solving the problem as it just grew slightly out of reach of an extremely talented team. Everyone in IT has had this happen. The best designs fail at the worst moment, and major outages affect the customer experience. This is why it is always helpful to have an outside experience, whether that be trusted colleagues [or a good message board] you can reach to while planning. Or you can work with solution architects from AWS or look to leverage outside consultants. It is important to build a team of resources that you trust to execute your mission. When you finally get time to rest, there's nothing worse than problems with Netflix to get your blood boiling when you should be relaxing. There's just so many things that could go wrong, from your hardware and internet to Netflix's servers and everything in between. Where do you even start getting the service to work?

If this headscratcher is stressing you out when you should be relaxing, here are some great ways to get started addressing your problem. We can't guarantee a fix, but if you follow this article, you'll stand a great chance at fixing some of the most common issues we see with Netflix and get Netflix working again.

Step 3: Check your internet connection; Look at your router and make sure all of the appropriate lights are on and not flashing. If your internet service provider is not suffering from an outage in your area, the solution could be as simple as resetting your router.

While DVD and Blu-ray dominate today's world, VHS tapes ruled supreme in the '80s and '90s. It wasn't uncommon for families to document birthday parties, holidays, sporting events, and other big moments in life with their handheld camcorder, recording the footage onto a trusty VHS tape. Unfortunately, playing those VHS tapes is challenging nowadays, as it's unlikely that you still have your old VHS player (or that it's even still in working condition).

I'm having problems with random audio drops /popping with the new 2021 Apple TV 4k using the Netflix app and HBO Max app with Dolby Atmos shows. I had this with the original tvOS and now with tvOS 15.0. It is connected to a Denon X4400Hx. I tried a bunch of things with no success. Not sure if there is a hardware or software problem. At the beginning of the Matrix when the WB logo is coming up and there were small audio drops; I replicated this twice, but now it's working. Super annoyed and I'm worried about a pop blowing out a tweeter.

In my experience, I have found that any content featuring a Dolby Atmos track will produce this result to varying degree/severity, so you might consider a full switchover to TV apps to save yourself the juggling act and possible damage to your speakers. Or, if you are more enamored of your video quality of the ATV, then disable Atmos processing. I decided on the former option as I truly enjoy the Atmos experience and had need of the ATV to be used elsewhere in a non-Atmos setup.

In Netflix, I started watching The Adam Project yesterday and the soundbar repeatedly switched in and out of Atmos, causing sound to drop out every second i.e. audio for 1 second, no audio for 1 second, audio for 1 second, no audio for 1 second ... endlessly. This happened with any Atmos title in the Netflix app.

I had my Apple TV in a closed closet (only opening in the back) and it felt rather warm. When I installed the Netflix update I at the same time got The Apple TV out of the closet and it's now standing free and doesn't run warm. Since then no dropouts for several days now.

You are losing some of the audio effects that way but if you can't tell the difference and I don't think many can then that is a work around. I put a lot into the Atmos setup with 4 in ceiling speakers and can't really tell they do anything. :(

I think I finially fixed it. Both the cable from the TV to the receiver and the cable from the Apple TV to the receiver had to be replaced; just replacing the cable to the ATV with a super short high rated cable was not enough. All the previous cables were 18 Gbps and passed the HDMI checks for max bells and whistles but that was obviously not enough for Atmos (1080p and Atmos had problems too). I think the Gen2 ATV 4k is less tolerant than the ATV Gen1 for atmos as I did not have this problem until I 'upgraded'.
